I am still on version 7 of eM Client, and was considering upgrading to v. 8 using their Black Friday discount. Has anybody upgraded and would you recommend it?
Yes, I did, using their Black Friday discount. I hadn't used it for a long time. Their internal updater hardly worked for me; I was far from impressed. Anyway, as soon as I started the installed version 7, I first got a later version of version 7. Then I deactived my licence and actived it again with the new licence. And by checking for an update via its internal updater, I got now version 8, very smooth. But, again, not the latest: I got 8.0.3385 and according to previous postings by Kent that seems not to be the latest one. I see lots and lots of new things. I have just installed it and have not yet looked at them all; that will take some time. But it does look very promising! I see a backup option (I don't remember me whether version 7 had it too); I'm curious how it works. Whether they still use OpenSSL (and which version) I don't know at the moment. Well, so far the very first impressions. PS: The Black Friday offer is valid until 4 December 2020
Yes, 7 had it as well. Menu > Tools > Settings > Backup, and you choose where, when and how often to back up the full database, and how many backups it retains automatically. Very useful

Kent, do you know if eM Client is receptive to suggestions from customers? And, if so, what is the best way to submit the feedback?
Hello @Alexhousek , It has been a while since I had contact with them outside of beta testing but always had good response from their support, I used to use "support AT emclient DOT com" but I do not know if they still use that address any more. Support has been switched to online only and no email address is published to contact them. Their support has always been good when I have dealt with them. You can try: Free version support: https://forum.emclient.com/ Pro version support: https://support.emclient.com/ I hope this helps...
Thank you. Here's my request/suggestion: Both Outlook and Gmail have a "Move to" button. It allows you to move selected emails to a specific folder/sub-folder. In fact, in Outlook, you can set up a "quick step" which is a one-button move. Yes, I realize that you can drag and drop emails to sub-folders in eM Client. But, when you have 50 or more sub-folders, sometimes it is a pain to drag the message(s) and then have to move up and down your folders to find the right folder. And, then sometimes, I end up dropping them into the wrong folder/sub-folder. I'd love to see eM Client have the same "move to" option and my dream would be for them to develop something like Outlook's "quick step".
Hello @Alexhousek , Have you tried selecting the email/emails and right clicking? You can also customize the toolbar by right clicking and add a "Move to" button...
I've been using eM Client for months and never knew about this?! It's the one thing that's kept me from paying for the Pro version. Thanks puff!!
