Both Windows, and Apple have been adding many mitigations that have made their respective software safer over the years, however, user behavior is still key to preventing infections. I am on macOS and when Mojave is released, it adds even more mitigations and privacy. In my honest opinion, I would give it an edge over Windows in both categories.

K keeps harping on the source code which I even admit is pristine. But they will never speak of what hidden surprises updates could include, nor will they speak of malware which is known to exist but will not have a K definition to stop it. I do hate being treated like I am a Fool.
Of course something like this can happen in future (or are you saying that it already happened?), but it can IMO happen with any AV vendor.

The most "damning" review I have read on Kaspersky: Kaspersky Antivirus Review 2019 – Not an Antivirus, it's a Virus! https://www.safetydetective.com/best-antivirus/kaspersky/
i really think it's interesting that when you try to leave that page it tries to sell you a Kaspersky license at 50% discount...
That review seems to be from last year. So, this information wasn't available at the time. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/is-kaspersky-a-red-herring.374424/page-13#post-2821082
And that's how their "experts" rate different aspects of AV: IMO their "expert review" is not worth bits it uses on their server.
Ranked 48 out of 48 antiviruses and the garbage TotalAV is 10th, seems legit They complain that about 20% CPU usage when scanning. The review was good for a laugh. But the sad thing is that an inexperienced user, may encounter this, or another dodgy review site and think it is trustworthy.

Might be looking at Kaspersky, among others, if what is being mentioned on Comodo forums turns out to be fact. Moderators are starting to suggest that CIS could be abandoned and we all should find a replacement.
