So despite the obvious in-your-face requests for monthly donations the last blog update was seven months ago. No doubt not enough has arrived to ...”without your support, I just can’t justify the time it would take to publish that level of detail.”

Well here’s a message from someone who has devoted hours of his time pretty much every day to the OS community without ever asking for anything.

The Linux community is awash with stuff nobody needs including vanity ISO projects and a splurge of desktops that even hardened users struggle to find a use for. So, whatever it is you’re looking to throw into the pot, give it up unless you can manage it for free in which case you have my undying admiration.

That may be old information, it doesn't seem funding is a high priority anymore.
"Funding for Spectrum is provided by NGI Zero, an initiative by the Digital Single Market of the European Commission."

On the latest blog the dev also writes that she isn't sure she will continue writing those blog posts, as they take a lot of time, which could also be investing in developing.

And while there tons of distro's and desktops, there are very little desktop disto's that focus on security through compartmenalization, whether through virtualization or sandboxing.
Qubes OS is a big one(though technically not a Linux distro) and imho great and with an active development, but there is little choice if you want better compatibility and lighter system resources afaik.
Subgraph OS is dead, they're working on something different called Subgraph Citadel, but they've been silent for quite some time.
