It is explained in the article.
The automatic forwarding feature will be disabled or available for a fee.
If you don't use this feature you won't have any changes.

Always used Yahoo! Mail primarily for it's (basename+keyword@yahoo.com) disposable address feature for 3rd party newsletters, and so also to identify originators of spam.
But I think this may be the last nail in the coffin for Yahoo! for me. There have been other (disposable address) issues in the past.

May convert briefly to Pro (if necessary) to see what I want to keep, but this will force me to sift through my bloated inbox, clean up and ditch Yahoo! once and for all.

I do also think some of my scheduled image backups historically use my Yahoo! email address for success / failure messages. Will need to change those too.

Why not check it out? You can always switch back if I'm correct. Actually now that I think about it, I was never actually using the Yahoo Mail "Pro" version, because you have to pay for that. I was simply complaining about the Yahoo Mail "Advanced" version which is free to use.

With the Yahoo Mail Basic version you can at least open emails in background tabs and it's not a huge list of emails, instead about 25 to 50 emails are being displayed per page. I suppose Yahoo Mail Pro is quite similar, and not to forget it's much "heavier".

    Thunderbird 60.0.
But thanks to the patch I provided to our developer there are 2 other email clients that can replace Thunderbird 52.9.1:

    Icedove.
    MailNews.

I have already written what these email clients are.
They are 2 forks that can also be installed in Windows XP.
See in the image, the client that I use, MailNews, with 2 OAuth2 accounts (yahoo + Gmail):

    Dear Yahoo Member,

At Yahoo, we are continually looking for ways to deliver the best products and services to our customers. Sometimes that involves changing how and where certain account features are offered so that we can provide you with the best possible value.

That’s why we want to let you know that starting on 01/01/21, the auto-forwarding feature that is currently part of your Yahoo Mail account will no longer be available.

    However, we have good news!

Now, you have two options to choose from so that you can keep using those features that mean the most to you.

    Option #1:

Access + Forwarding allows you to preserve your Yahoo emails and email forwarding. For just $1/month (billed annually) you can:

    • Automatically forward Yahoo emails to another email address
    • Access your Yahoo emails without the worry of them being deleted due to email account inactivity**
Get started with Access + Forwarding now

    Option #2

Yahoo Mail Pro provides you with a premium email experience for just $3.49/month that includes:

    • Ability to automatically forward Yahoo emails to another email address
    • An ad-free Yahoo Mail experience on both desktop and mobile
    • Faster loading emails on Desktop browsers
    • Continued access to emails that won’t get purged due to inactivity**
    • Priority customer support to get help anytime with your account
Start your Yahoo Mail Pro 14-day free* trial today

*To avoid being charged the recurring subscription fee, simply cancel before the free trial period ends.

If you decide not to upgrade, you will continue to have free ad-supported access to your Yahoo mailbox at mail.yahoo.com or via our free Yahoo Mail apps available on the App Store and Play Store. These include free features like:

    • One-tap Unsubscribe: Access to all your mailing lists in one screen, so you can quickly opt-out of junk email in one tap
    • Attachments View: All your documents, files and photos organized from your inbox in one convenient folder
    • Add any account: Manage all your email addresses in one place - including Gmail and Outlook
    Sincerely,
    Yahoo Member Services

But they only accept US registered cards!:mad::thumbd:
I have never encountered an online transaction where my (non-US) Visa card has been rejected.
Even PayPal with same card fails.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us back.

I understand that you're having issues updating your payment method online. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. I'd love to help.

Unfortunately, we're only accepting cards that are mostly registered within the US. If your card does not have a US billing address, your bank must support AVS (Address Verification System) for it to work.

If you have any other issues, definitely let me know.

    Regards,

    ....

I did the OAuth2 setting in SeaMonkey/Thunderbird in August (post 5).
Everything was fine since then, both send and receive.
Suddenly yesterday SEND FAILED, the same this morning. I was connected, ping their smtp server worked, so I figured it might be the password thingie.
It turns out that yahoo SMTP server also needed a change to OAuth2. Now sending works.

Did they issue some sort of a notice about the outgoing servers? Was I supposed to do it before?

Interesting thing happened. When I couldn't send mail SeaMonkey offered to save as draft, which I did of course. Then I ran the web basic mail. Curiously, the few mails that I couldn't send and put them in drafts were visible in webmail. So parts of sending worked without OAuth2.

I have one of my e-mail accounts on Yahoo, but in somewhat different domain (country code instead of com). I also had to change to OAuth2. Generally this works in Thunderbird, unless I try to see messages in three folders inside account. Sometimes it stops working after 2 folders. Regular inbox + some subfolder + bulk main and it says it could not connect to account anymore just like it would some protection/annoyance kick in. Webmail does not have that problem.
Also download/upload attachment throughput is very low. Sometimes it takes minutes to download 4 megabytes of attachments. Webmail also does not have that throughput issue.

I have no issues with Thunderbird and yahoo mail (POP not imap) thankfully.

I was wondering if there were any ongoing security vulnerabilities in Yahoo Mail that means I should avoid it? I have 3 junk email accounts with them, that somehow became IDs for multiple services that I still use. Then I have a proper account in Outlook.

I was just wondering whether it was worthwhile going through all the trouble of changing all those sign ins and everything else, to a new provider and get rid of those three yahoo mail accounts. Or actually a more secure service like Proton Mail won't really do that much for me (especially if all my friends and family are on gmail/yahoo/outlook etc).

Any help would be most welcome.
