    +1

It's an inferior product to CCleaner despite the privacy concerns. I even suggested to them months ago why not have the ability to uninstall Windows Store apps like the ones you cannot uninstall normally like CCleaner can? They sent me the standard thank you for your suggestion bla bla bla message and nothing changed.

I then suggested to them why do we have to scan first THEN clean. I just want a single button to Clean like CCleaner, same deal, they don't give a darn about their users

I use the installer version, it's been scanned every time it's updated. I found it to be safe.

Why do you say this? There's good reasoning, I'm sure but I found Wise to be a speedy and competent if pretty basic cleaner. That's fine. When something like this is free, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. It takes about 5 seconds to scan and clean on here. I know where else to look to manually remove junk, like the various code-caches. That's me. I won't use CC and gave up on PrivaZer long ago.

Good thing there's a lid for almost every pot, cleaner-wise. (See what I did there?) :)

WDC is part of the wise suite which I gathered in the past with several giveaways, started years ago with windows xp - and this is quite a long time - a long time also to gather experience how it works, what it will find and delete. same stupid results as ccleaner and any other cleaner - and same results as windows "cleanup"(.exe). you can trust me and others (also Spartan) or try yourself and make yourself experience in comparison with other cleaners. but you should keep the results as screenshots to compare the findings and the results (free space i think). i can tell you right here and now that there won't be any significant difference. Listen, not anybody here is fresh and new to windows, some of us are now in the 3rd or 4th decade (!) using windows, so those digged deep into windows guts.

Starting with windows 7 users should keep hands off Windows and leave it as is. If you miss drive space then buy a larger drive, if you miss memory, buy a larger memory module, if you miss power, buy a faster cpu. but "cleaning" and "tuning" windows is a big joke. Vendors like Wise, TuneUp/AVG/Avast, Cleaner/Avast are others are only maintaining its money making software but taking care a f**k about problems after use. Remember?
WDC and some other parts of the suite are free, but be aware of the spam and ads they will show you to buy the suite, promised.

BTW does someone know a tool how to find remnants of trial software in registry, hidden in the CLSID section? No? I do.

    not necessarily.
    for the portable version:
empty and disable inheritance for the "updateinfo" folder and say goodbye to the ads.

How do you disable inheritance, IMDb? I located this folder in C:\Users\moi\AppData\Roaming\Wise Disk Cleaner and there's currently one .jpg file in there corresponding to the ad on the UI, which isn't too bad of itself. If you just delete anything in that folder, it's re-populated when Wise is re-opened, naturally.

Ad-wise, one can do a lot worse, in my opinion. No spam in my emails from Wise, either.

delete that jpg and then do as follows:
right click updateinfo -> properties -> security > advanced -> disable inheritance -> remove all inherited permissions from this object ->apply -> ok.

From memory: For me using the portable version and blocking the exe in my firewall resulted in no ads.

I completely agree that the differences between Windows 10 and Windows XP are monumental in terms of software technology, most of these third party utilities were conceived for Windows XP at a time where hard drives would have capacities of 20-40 GB, CPUs were very slow, RAM memory of 500 MB was considered more than enough.

When CCleaner was critically deprecated for the reasons that we know, I tested several similar programs at the time and compared the results with CCleaner: most of them had differences in cleaning power of the order of 500 MB up to 2 GB!Is it possible that CCleaner is so inefficient? Is Windows 10 so inefficient? After letting them perform the 'deep' cleaning there was no performance improvement what-so-ever. Which means that whatever was deleted was perhaps passive for normal OS activities, but might be essential backup for certain programs among other things.

My current SSD has a capacity of 500 GB of which 50 GB are used space, with a 'deep cleaning' of 2-3 GB I will have a used space of 47 GB out of 500GB... So what? No performance improvement, a gain of about 0.5% of usable space, and the high risk of affecting Windows' innards without knowing exactly what was deleted. I still use CCleaner portable because I know it hasn't affected Windows throughout the years, but primarily because with default settings, it is a very mild cleaner, although it is not really required on Windows 10.

Can you start a new conversation with me in private? OR can you post the name of this tool here?
I am only installing WDC, Free, I am NOT planning to buy the suite, I only download the installer, I don't need to register the software, they don't have my email address I don't receive spam in my inbox, I do not see ads.
Are you talking about the portable version?
I don't see any .jpg file or updateinfo file

This is my what I found in this path:
    C:\Users\c4m3lia\AppData\Roaming\Wise Disk Cleaner
    WDC.jpg

And this are my Firewall Rules:
    dWDC_rules.jpg

And when I understand how to block connections in NetLimiter I will create a rule to block it

    dWDC_NetLimiter.jpg

Sooooooooooo WDC portable display ads?:eek::eek:
OR why do you need to delete a jpg.file and and disable inheritance?

    Thanks
    Camelia

WDC Portable seems no origin offer, more from portableapps.com and thus not official?

WDC shows ads if let passed:
    https://www.imagebanana.com/s/1932/89LND1Xm.html
    (and it's not "liveupdate.exe")

Having it running jumping through sections - there exist no option for details for system cleanup, only opening the target folder which means nothing to me.

Talking to me about Windows installer cache (145megs) or deprecated installer files (12megs) is more than ridiculous while windows need 10/15/or more gigs. In special the Windows installer cache is questionable and this makes updates not reversible, no uninstall in case of problems.

As I wrote, feel free to gather your own experience.

BTW WDC is leaving a hidden entry here
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\clsid\{E5B3AA32-A77C-4653-A7B1-1BF3EE35D531}]
    (revealed with sandboxie)

Oh wow. OK first: I use the installer version, but it seems once you breach the folder after disabling inheritance, you might be out of luck. I went to check if anything was in the Updateinfo folder but it asked for Administrator permission which I clicked "OK", opened the folder and it was empty. Launched Wise and the ad was back. Went back to the folder, the .jpg was back. Inheritance was still disabled, I checked this also. So now, like many others, I have created an outbound block rule for Wise. :cautious:

Hmm, well I'm a little put-off by this shenanigan but at least it's blocked, and hopefully it stays that way. Since the ad material was back, here's some snips-the Halloween motif is a bit out of date, though.

Here is the registry key you indicated, Brummelchen. :) The path was somewhat different on here.

I blocked two Wise .exe located in c:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Wise\Wise Disk Cleaner. To be thorough, I blocked LiveUpdate exe and WiseDiskCleaner .exe (this pertains to the Installer version, not portable). So far, after several restarts, the UI is clean of ads. Hopefully, it stays that way. :)

I think it's OK to be a little leery of things like this but you can circumvent them. I'm still not sure why to call this "garbage." It hasn't harmed any Windows process to date either if just using the basic cleaning functions. :doubt:

That seems a matter of chosen language. Google told me to go here
    http://www.wisecleaner.eu/wise-disk-cleaner.html (european page perhaps)
And there exist no portable on first sight, but now I see the "Download Center" at the top which is grey and hard to recognize. Thank you (all).

Files are same as in setup, except an ini which holds preset for update check.

    BTW
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\clsid
    ist somehow very equal to
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

if you delete one, the other is also gone.

PS cleanmgr told me this minute I could clean up 1GB, that's a lot more than the numbers of WDC above (linked image) (almost all data are windows updates). That far about the need for WDC.

    Hi
what do you think about revo uninstaller ,it does include a cleaner , and should be stealth (portable sites have analyzed it)?
don't want to be off topic , but just like the user camelia , i'm looking for a ccleaner alternative
and i have considered wise disk cleaner too and BleachBit (it should the same ini of ccleaner)
    thanks

I own a pro license but I never used it. IDD I never used any of such cleaners because it dont trust them at all. I always try to install and run any unknown programs within sandboxie or under the control of shadow defender and/or sysinternals process monitor as a logger. For bigger or more intrusive installations I create an image. the problem of any cleaner, ccleaner, bleachbit aso. Is that you need to know about the results, in worst case you try to delete something vital.
