SpywareBlaster 6.0 won't open in Windows 10

    SpywareBlaster won't open. I have turned-off all anti-virus and anti-malware programs. I ran Process Monitor but the log file was empty. Renaming/restoring the original profiles.ini of Firefox did not work. Neither running repairs in Tweaking.com Windows Repair, nor restoring the registry, has helped. This is the only program that has stopped.

    What Windows Services are necessary to open SpywareBlaster?

    Hi,

    All the dependencies that SpywareBlaster requires are either pre-installed on Windows 10, or bundled in its installer.
    (Have you tried installing "over-the-top" with a fresh copy of the SpywareBlaster 6.0 installer?)

    To help us try to track down the cause, and rule out interference by another application, could you please tell us:
    1. What security / privacy software you have installed? (anti-virus / anti-malware / security "suites" / cleaning tools / etc)
    2. What browsers you have installed
    3. What version / build of Windows 10 you have installed (see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/)

    I am having this same issue as of a few weeks ago: SB suddenly will not open/run.

    Specs: Windows 10 Home 21H1 x64 / Avast free 21.11.2500 / Comodo free firewall 12.2.2.8012 / Firefox & Edge Chromium all recent/fully updated

    I'm conversant to a decent degree in system protection and troubleshooting, importantly SB worked normally until sometime in the recent past. Have uninstalled, scrubbed all known sys and reg traces (including security app entries) and reinstalled without success. Starting SB invokes UAC but then nothing follows, and neither Task Mgr nor Process Explorer indicate it's running. Same issue from both Admin and Standard user accounts.

    Any ideas appreciated, THX

    Hi JLJ,

    Did it stop working around the time either Avast, Comodo, or Windows itself installed an update?

    My first question is if either Avast or Comodo are interfering with the process launch - you can always try fully excluding spywareblaster.exe from any of their "real-time scanning" or related protection (i.e. in all places you can exclude / "whitelist" / "allow list" an executable) and see if that makes a difference?
