I gave up and just use a Microsoft account. By the time I boot up the PC and have Skype, Office 365, and OneDrive anyway, there is no way they don't already know I am online, with the same credentials. I'd rather have access to the Release Preview channel than fight something that doesn't seem to be worse that what I am already doing. Not trying to tell you what to do. I'd just rather get something out of it.

I understand for you is not practical, but I don't use Skype, Office anything, OneDrive, or any other service M$ has to offer, so I'm not missing out on anything.

That's the beauty of Win10, but M$ seem intent on forcing users into signing in to use those services. OK if you use them, but a PITA if you don't.
    That would be pointless. :)

Likewise succumbed, mainly because of OneDrive, probably will go with MS 365 with Office 2010 now past sell-by date, not that I particularly need it.

I saw someone posted that this past week on Reddit. What build are you running? I have Enterprise and am running 2004 so have not seen this.

This has been in the insider builds for a long time. I see it is starting to be displayed on release builds.
    Some info:

Edit: It's probably of little value to you if you use a local account and do not use any Microsoft services, which based on a previous conversation I believe that you do not.

Just out of curiosity because I think it's more a non-issue: Has anyone gotten the MS Store tile to go live in your Start Menu? I haven't had the Store tile move for the past, I dunno, couple of years? Believe me, I tried everything I could find.

Many people have written about the dead Store tile. Is anyone fortunate enough to have a live one? Windows 20H2.

I'm not sure about what you are asking, but yes I have the MS Store tile in my Start Menu.

    Thanks @xxJackxx .

It doesn't bother me that much as I don't go into settings that often. You're correct, it would be of little value to me using a Local account.

    Cheers.

Uninstalling OneDrive is one of the first things I do after installing Windows, so no warning here.

Ditto, it's the worst cloud storage! I once uploaded all my photos which were all organized neatly in folders then it changed all that and created albums of me and my friends and family without my permission

No such issue on OneDrive. All my folders preserved.

Sure that wasn't Google Drive? Google Photos does that ...

No it was in my phone though which in turn messed up my desktop folder layout. Never again will I touch it

Yes, right. The tiles can be "live"--like they animate. Photos app, eg, flips thru various pictures you have stored there as a slideshow. The Store was supposed to do this with various featured items but I haven't had this happening for literally years. No biggie. :)

Now I understand what you mean, and the MS store tile is static, I have no memory of it being ever animated, but why worry?

I usually uninstall one drive as I don't want it to upload files and folders automatically, I prefer to do it myself when I need to. But I do use it, and it is 15 GB free...

I've not had any problems with OneDrive. Several years ago (when it was still called SkyDrive) they lost some of my files, but at that time it happened to others as well. Fortunately I had other copies and haven't had any issues since then. I currently share files between 4 devices so I can't complain.

    There were two bugs.
First one where after reboot defrag forgot that it already optimized drives was fixed.
Second where defrag tries to TRIM HDDs is AFAIK not solved.

I didn't notice because I was using a third party defrag.I suspect most won't notice.
