HOW TO GET STARTED??

Hi,
I really want to learn how to use Acronis True Image V 8.0 b 774 . but when I really get more into the Program, it seem soooooooo complicated to use.
So, far I have only installed the Program and made a Bootable Disk at the suggestion of Acronis.
Really don't know how to use it incase of an Emergency .

Any suggestion to where to start

It is a lot of work if you want to make sure everything is bullit proof and you have a genuine backup. A genuine verified backup is very important and as such requires you to pay someone you realy trust a lot and has the expertise or learn yourself. Many people have had computers for 5 and 10 years now and don't have a backup or have inadequate backups. Imagine loosing all your email and data forever.

Once you have read the help do a bit of experimenting and preferably get a second drive to practice on.

I would recommend you do a backup then use the bood CD to restore to ANOTHER hard drive and make sure the original is out of the computer if running windows 2000 or XP or you will go crazy. Windows XP will melt down if it sees an other copy when booting for the first time. After the first boot you can add the original drive back.

Once you gain confidence you can make new partitions etc but unless you are very comfortable with that then just keep it simple and verify your backups. It will be GOOD when TI does the verify image automaticaly

Rather than looking at all the functionality available, I suggest you define what it is you want to achieve. If (say) you want to be able to carry out a backup and restore, then I suggest you forget everything else and just concentrate on being able to create an image.

If you hit problems doing that you will then be able to form specific questions which makes it easier for forum members to offer help.

Once you have sorted out how to backup, then concentrate on just the process of carrying out a restore.

It really is not that complicated, if anything ever does seem complicated, I find it is usually easier to break things down into smaller units and deal with those.

Try doing something specific which deals with a specific objective you have and then come back with some more specific questions.
