For months (maybe years?) there are only "major" updates to console/remote administration, I kinda miss the big updates and changes.

Gotcha. So you are still using the product? I remember talking to you about it here some years ago.

I remember there was some talk about Emsisoft developing a brand new behavior blocker.

Unfortunately I am not, nowadays Emsisoft is one of the most expensive solutions here in my country, so while I like the product, there are cheaper and maybe better alternatives here.

I remember that, the new behavior blocker should be more holistic and deal better against fileless malware, but no news about this one.

I can understand that. I may renew my license again to see how it compares to the last time I ran it. It felt a bit too heavy for my liking last time I used it.

Wasn't aware of plans for a new behaviour blocker, but sounds good.

'Tis pricey here too - have a 3-machine license to spread costs.
Still my preferred provider, due to their setup and approach ... good support, respect for privacy, and above all Fabian Wosar's apparent ability and occasional interaction on forums.

Yes, that is why i also looked for alternatives, it seems all updates are to the console and none are for expanded protection beyond bitdefender signatures/heuristics.

I guess times are hard and the biz market is now their hunting ground to increase sales and staying in business.

@Buddel -- Thanks!!! GREAT link. I especially paid close attention to that blog's page about Emsisoft's Behavior Blocker (BB). A long while back, they had a stand-alone BB (I can't remember its rather odd name). Because of Emsisoft's pioneering experience from those bygone days, their current BB should be one of the best, most extensive & proven behavior blockers built into any current AV.

Because of zero-day malware, I won't use any AV that lacks some form of NON-signature-based detection. However, sad to say, Emsisoft is too heavy for my aging laptop. I wish they would issue their behavior blocker as a stand-alone. I would pay to subscribe to it in a heartbeat.

Thanks guys. How is it running for you all of late? It's been probably about three years since I have. Last time I was a user, it seemed heavy on my system. Has this improved at all by chance?

I don't find it heavy, but as you know everyone's machine is different :)
I also shutdown my machine each day (No Fast Boot) which I think gives any AV software time to get its thoughts together:D

Not heavy here. A2guard and a2service.exe = 0.13 and 0.12%, and 0.07 and 0.27% CPU avg respectively, on two laptops (according to Process Lasso).
EAM stays for now as the company philosophy, and lead dev Fabian Wosar, have gained my respect.

Obviously you could go lighter by just using surgically dedicated tool like a software restriction policy soft.

Some complain of the 'heaviness' of Microsoft Defender, especially when opening folders with many .exes (I have folders with many portables, for example) so one would need to weigh up against that, unless you disable it with Sordum's Defender Control.

I bought my first license in 2012, and I am still using EAM today. Never considered any other AM option.
And it is very light here : 0,1% CPU.
I just wish they hadn't ditched Online Armor.

I was a long time user until this year when I didn't renew. It just seemed to me they were more enterprise focused now with most of the development this year on the management console and I was also seeing a number of annoying FPs with game executables.
Moved to Bitdefender free and Voodooshield and find that a little lighter on browsing especially.

Did you changed it so real-time acts on file execution?

Thanks to all for your replies. Maybe I will download a trial again and give it a go.
