I get your point but disagree. IMO, Itman's information can possibly be very helpful to WV's developers for reference in fine-tuning WV's ability to correctly deal with "innocent" apps that manifest guilty behavior for useful purposes.
Oh no disagreement there @bellgamin. WVSX falls strictly in line with flagging anything they deem and have confirmed in their own expert lab as contrary and off limits to established guidelines they have incorporated into this beautiful security program.
A couple sandbox analyses of simboot.exe: https://www.joesandbox.com/analysis/216147/0/html https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/sam...58df3ae40cf3ec8b60249a8d9a0?environmentId=100 Both find it malicious.
Online Armor was my favorite Security App ever! OA takes the #1 spot in my Security Software Hall of fame!
dunno if asked but can it be used alongside a main AV or it replaces it? EDIT: seams to run fine alongside anything lol
OK thanks, so in other words, when you did the malware testing, you disabled the realtime-protection, and WVSX still managed to block the various code injection techniques, that sounds cool. BTW, I found this article about code injection methods (see link), does WVSX block them all? And what about anti-ransomware protection, can it also block file encryption after ransomware is already running? Because I remember that Cruelsister mentioned in this thread that AppCheck Anti-Ransomware failed to detect certain samples, while WVSX blocked it. However, AppCheck is purely based on behavior blocking, it doesn't use signatures. https://www.elastic.co/blog/ten-pro...-technical-survey-common-and-trending-process
Don't forget about Neoava Guard (see screenshot), I think I liked it even more than System Safety Monitor, it was quite an advanced HIPS. I never really liked Prevx, don't remember why. And seems that the last version was purely a scanner without HIPS. Correction, you also had Prevx SafeOnline which was later integrated into Webroot Internet Security. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Inter...Blockers/Prevx-CSI-Free-Malware-Scanner.shtml https://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/Prevx-SafeOnline.shtml
Hi, WiseVector StopX is designed to be used alone. At present, I think you'd better install a Browser Extension to prevent from phishing website when you access to internet.
good info thank you, I was looking for a replacement to zemana second opinion live scanner seams to be very slow anyway with kaspersky
Rasheed- Although I certainly do no recommend that anyone hobble WV to this extent, I also did run a specific ransomware test that utilized ransom malware acting by diverse mechanisms. The test was run with the network disabled and real-time protection off. In addition I also set up a directory (C:/1) that had files that are not covered by the honeypot but were eligible for encryption by the ransomware (the reason for this is that some strains of ransomware, like Cryptofortress, will seek non-traditional areas as well as non-normal file types to encrypt. Often an anti-ransomware product will block encryption in the usual places but not in the unusual ones). The only issue seen was that one sample left a couple of innocuous artifacts on the desktop and WV had to think longer on a Bart variant before killing it. Excellent results and it did outperform AppCheck. (ps- Wise Vector- your product works well with Comodo Firewall installed, although I do wish that you would register WVSX with them.) M
Hi, Thanks a lot for your test. Do you mean we need to contact Comodo so they can whitelist WVSX? But as I know, Comodo doesn't flag WVSX as suspicious or malicious...
Just re-checked and WiseVector has been whitelisted by Comodo. Last time I checked it wasn't, so perhaps the Dev's actually read my email to them.
Prevx version 2 had some HIPS features along with it's BB, but did away with the HIPS in version 3 (or at least the user was no longer prompted for system behavior, everything became automated after version 2). Prevx 2 was my favorite version. I still have System Safety Monitor and Neoava Guard. Edited 9/19/20 @ 5:36
I also used Prevx when it was "the rage." Had it install for a while and it never detected anything. Dumped it.
