Of course, they can access , i am not a newbie using Sandboxie. As i said before, i was using those programs installed inside sandboxes and most of my games worked without a problem, easy anticheat games dont, of course. This issue started with that version of Sandboxie that "fixed" live/hotmail logins under a sandboxed browser. On W7 i can log in into Uplay normally.

80% of my Steam games used to work too, but Windows 20H1 broke Steam installed inside a sandbox, because i couldn´t update my games. For that reason i installed W10 1903 version, and Steam is able to update my games again. Something about sandboxed programs handling or accessing files or folders is really broken on 20H1, for example, Firefox trying to save a file in a different location on the hard drive is slow as hell. On 1903 it's instantaneous.

It´s a shame that Windows 7 + Sandboxie works a lot better than any W10 version.

    Excuse my poor english.

Woohooo, excuse meeeee   Just tried to help and make sure, no setting changed.
Personal I stopped buying DRM games, after all the years they mess up the Installation of Windows and the final straw when they forced the mail activation, then denied my right on my owne bought DRM ware, due to me stupid, forgetting which of the mails I used for registration. Well, my bad too, but still frustrating. (Red Faction G) At that time Epic and UT99-UT3 was much better with that already, though today, I am not sure with them today with their DRM shop.
Humble Bundle and GOG brought me back. And things like the witcher and other games proof it works without DRM, if they just care. You even read about people who buy games again on GOG, to get the already paid game again but DRM free. I did that too, got Red Faction G. o_O
With Win7 and SBIE, I am all with you, Win 10 broke many things and you never know what it will break tomorrow.... That's the way it is.

Thank you for your understanding of my point of view. At least I have a fore view how it would be done the next time. To answer - I try - your question concerning the driver (sys file) - this is be done from the kmdutil and if I am not wrong it contain code from sandboxie itself - to unload the sys file/driver. I will sit and wait how David will improve the script. ;)

Yes, as I said I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled each time - the only thing I retained each time was my settings (sandboxie.ini).

Nothing would run in 5.43, not even explorer.exe, but my main browser is Firefox (latest). IIRC the exe loaded into the sandbox when 5.43 actually installed but then came the errors. And I tried installing as Administrator too. Win 10 x64 fulled updated.

For the moment I'm happy that 5.42.1 works. And for the record I'm writing this on my Lenovo laptop and nothing works post 5.33.6, so it's not just one machine that has problems.

I think sandboxie plus was better off with no digital signature at all. A revoked one makes even more antivirus programs go nuts without even looking at the file.

Cayn you try this test build: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L3GjBGc-jnpo7VB4FSHBWC_Q-DgwjtXr/view?usp=sharing to see if it works for you.

Well without a digital signature windows will not load the driver at all, unless in test mode, so no signature is not really an option.

The 5.43.1 temp build David made to test, all works, just had
@DavidXanatos Did you just give my personal testbuild away to anybodyo_O :'( I thought we had something special. LOL
In the end I wonder if the not working routine was important after all. The problem is often the special undocumented routines seem to be the most important ones :isay:

Is there an estimate of when the next Sandboxie Plus stable release will be that includes all the newly added features?

Ok please try this build: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oDoE0oY-2MPUPW3-RUKPCx6tByj661z4/view?usp=sharing
if it works great than just one more test build to go...

if it does not: close sandboxie ctrl and terminate the service, and replace the sbiedll.dll's with these: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17WO5T_iehUAoIZwIPzlZnsMp_CYoqX_s/view?usp=sharing

Some background there were 3 changes to the hooking mechanism
    1. a simplified hooking approach that breaks some DLL's that are loaded with a delay was removed as it caused issues (DLL)
    2. the obsolete workaround was removed (driver)
    3. the hooking mechanism now nops out the area after the detour jump to resolve issues with hooking already hooked functions again (DLL + driver)

The test build 5.43.2 has changes 1 and 2 if you replace the DLL's with the provided test once it undoes 1 i.e. the problematic hooking
    shortcut gets used again.

I'm quite confident that the removal of the workaround for the obsolete Trusteer software is irrelevant.
I suspect that one of the other changes caused an issue.

I have a question about Sandboxie Plus 0.4........How the hell do I run anything in a sandbox without having it forced? The right click menu which I usually use has no Sandboxie entry and neither does the send to.

I have just installed this on a new Windows 7 x64 SP1 install and I have been using the original Sandboxie for something like 15 years having purchased a license for it.

I tried this on my other windows install which has an earlier version of Sandboxie which I think might of been 5.33.1. That wanted to uninstall the original Sandboxie which I did not want because I did not know what the consequences might be. Maybe backing up the sandboxie.ini might of preserved all my sandboxes and layout but it seemed a bit of a risk that I was not willing to take. Therefore I installed 5.4.3 which did an upgrade which seemed to go okay or so I thought. After a reboot when I attempted to sandbox ANY program sandboxie threw an error report, sorry but I do not have access to that error report ATM because I am in the new windows install. I tried Thunderbird, Cyberfox, Edge, Opera and a few small portable applications and none would run!

This must be simple because I cannot imagine that this would be omitted. Help would be appreciated.

first of all the next plus build wil have an option in the sandman settings to add a run sandboxed menuentry.
untill then you can start programs from the sandman ui.

Ah I see it now, right click on the sandbox and then it shows a run. :) The only problem is that anything I attempt to run crashes!

    Code:

Why is the Sandboxie.ini in the \Windows\ folder rather than being in Roaming?

the core components are teh same if it works with one it wil work with the other.
if you say that you ant run anything in the 0.4.0 plus build you installed please try the test builds, for expediency i only provided it as legacy installer.
you can install it and use the 0.4.0 in portable mode for the new ui features

I do now have both 5.43 and 0.4 installed in different folders. I looked at the 0.4 extraction but could not work out how to use it. Running the exe alone could not use the needed driver. I cannot remember what SB I had installed at the time, it might of been 5.33.1.

Unfortunately both 5.43.1 and 5.43.2 both crash with the same error 2224 when running microsoft edge, Internet Explorer 11 and a portable application GPU Stats Viewer.
    With 5.43.2>
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" This is on Windows 7 x64 SP1 and not any Win 10 appz.
    Code:
SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: SandboxieRpcSs.exe [NewBox]
SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: iexplore.exe [NewBox]

David, 5.4.3.2 works as flawless as 5.4.3.1 and the one before.
Dishonored Void Engine, all smooth, no issue.
Unity games same old issue, wait 4 min to start or kill SBIERpcSs.
Standard programs like Firefox also fine.

So from my side I would say all looks good with 5.4.3.2 as is.
If we will ever find the issue with the hanging issue for unity, well. Still the issue that the SBIERpcSs.exe gets no thread, which is resolved as described wait or kill.
    2020-09-09 21_23_59-Analyze wait chain.png

@RedDwarf just due to your issue, I tried IE11 runs fine for me with that version. 5.4.3.2 straight. Win 10 2004  just saw now, you run it in Win 7?

@DavidXanatos I was reading the following article
    https://www.msz.it/a-cheap-code-sig...y-certum-asseco-an-honest-review-walkthrough/
Certum is listed on the Microsoft website and you mentioned earlier that you checked the Certum website.
They have indeed an Open Source program:
    https://www.certum.eu/en/cert_offer_en_open_source_cs/
    https://en.sklep.certum.pl/data-safety/code-signing-certificates/open-source-code-signing-1022.html

Only it seems that the program was changed and that the certificate isn't EV.
It's actually a pity that they support Open Source but don't provide a EV certificate to natural persons.

I have two Windows 7 x64 SP1 installs on this PC. The one I was posting from previously was the new version which I only installed a couple of days back. I have still not completed installing windows updates because I am very wary of windows updates because they typically break too much stuff in my experience. I want to do an image of that Windows so I do not want to mess it up. I am now back in the older windows install which has some issues with USB which frequently fails to be recognised when it restores from Standby. It can take a minute or two to find the USB hub >mouse and keyboard making my PC unusable until it manages to find it. That is an old problem I had after a system restore which messed everything up. That has my email setup so I do need that working which requires a working Sandboxie. Nothing after 5.33.1 has worked for me so far on two different windows installs!
