Thanks for testing! I get the same error message, but of course with a valid e-mail address.

I don't think that this affect the configuration of a completely new account.

Is anybody here who was able to get Outlook.com/Office 365 accounts working in Outlook 2019? I've also tried the Resource Access Monitor in Sandboxie, but couldn't find a way to fix this problem...

@DavidXanatos, hopefully you can find some time to work on Sandboxie Plus.
Could you tell the status of that next release with valid Code Signing Certificate ?
    Thanks in advance.

Working on the next release currently, it will have a Snapshot functionality to create box snapshots i.e. incremental store various versions of the box content, and allow to switch between them.

Valid Code Signing Certificate is work in progress, not sure if the next version but its coming.

    Guys... question:

Would it be something there is a demand for to post small status updates of the works progress on my homepage or on tweeter?
I'm quite an introvert so its not something that comes to me naturally but if many people would appreciate that I could try.

    what do you think?

Twitter is terrible, your website (I didn't even know you had one...) is whatever, I won't personally be checking there often, if ever. This thread would be a good enough place to do this if it wasn't constantly filled with basic sandboxie troubleshooting help 101.

Maybe you can get the admins here to make you a subforum for your project(s), like how Biniware Support Forum exists.

Can you make a link to your homepage and genuine Twitter page, then? That way, it can be bookmarked and your silent supporters can keep reading about the progress and new features. :)

Wait, I see a link to your homepage in your signature. Any others will be welcomed.

Ex post facto change notes at https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/ are quite enough for me. -- jclarkw

Thanks for the update and good to hear, thanks very much David.
And for the status updates. It would be nice if you could do that. A post on your homepage is fine for me.

Long time user of Sandboxie (6+ years). I would always defer updates until something stopped working as it should, usually post some kind of widows update or sometimes if software I was testing changed a lot of .net stuff. Had some great help in the past pre-Sophos from the original sandbox forums. If any members still around another thanks, big shame they are gone as they had a lot of valuable info.

My primary use case is 2-fold. I use it to test small custom installations to ensure they are registering things correctly , that everything packaged was added right etc. without disturbing or overwriting my real install. I also will run CAD and register toolbars/plug-ins to test them without adding to my real working env or registry (easy to remove quickly after test). The 2nd use is I run my several free to play games and mods there so I can stop them adding extra stuff to my registry and I can keep them totally isolated from my work for fast transfer or removal (easy to copy to another machine sandboxie). Has worked VERY well for many years so I keep it this way.

2020, I have been running into more and more issues with Sandboxie throughout the end of last year but especially this year: I upgraded a week or so ago to 5.33.6 as I had been running 5.33.1 last year and 5.33.3 most of this year. I had initial problems in December when my machine was forced to Windows 10 1809 that I could no longer install several things I had previously been able to test. The first impact (I forget when) was the msi installer not working issue most of us ran into that. I could still test most of my standard exe installs as long as no drivers or services were involved.

Additionally for a while I still had a laptop on an older update which was on an older SB release (I forget which) and worked OK but that too can no longer now do msi so I am forced to think about upgrading..

In July I was updated to Win 10 2004, and I found other applications I was able to test and run 100% inside SB would no longer install. Once example was a mod pack put together in inno setup used for a game World of Tanks. It still thankfully installs fine on my 5.30 on my laptop. Seems a problem using the extracted files from %temp% it just dies, as far as I can tell totally linked to 2004 update was fine before.

I updated my workstation to 5.33.6 recently because I thought it might be a better match for 2004, most stuff still works, anything already installed still runs but updates or adding new stuff has become a struggle. I also noticed it seems to get slower and slower, apps run slow and after a few days simple tasks like run windows Explorer take minutes to open instead of the seconds it was taking.

    Some questions:

    • Should I take the plunge and update to the new version by David? I have held off to have an official version while it worked but would love to return to a version that let me install test applications properly especially msi files again like I used to.
    • If it does not work out can I simply reinstall 5.33.6 or once updated will I have trouble? Any way to just freeze/back up current, like maybe stop the service (maybe rename it), rename install folder, backup ini file etc.? Then revert back if needed
    • I read about a portable version, can I run that parallel with my current SB for testing or do I need to kill the current service? Do I need to rename the current service to avoid conflicts?
    • If I do update to the new version to avoid certificate issues do, I just need to add an exception/exclusion to the install folder?

@DavidXanatos honestly we should respect your nature, no need for exhibiting yourself. Though if you fancy it, why not a channel in Matrix Element (ex Riot) or post simply the news as now in the repo. But twitter? Brrrrrrr.
    Agree with jclarkw.

@jclarkw to answer the Start.Exe issue, yes, I experience this lately too, but with all versions. Honestly again, I think this is related to the fantastic work in progress Win 10. PL2004 and all the little children fixes.
It happened not long ago, that it came up, so should be Windows magic. Just as an example, it seems this lovely updates even made some games in Sandbox crash, which worked before. Even tried old versions again. Like the simple little Noita.
Interestingly it comes with can't write memory 0x bla bla bla. But if you keep the error open, you can play. Outside Sandbox, it runs flawless. Yippikayeah MS Windows as a service works like a charm. I would love to go back to Win 7 but no drivers for i 10th gen. :-(
It seems they do boycott Sandboxie, maybe the want us to use the crappy Win Sandbox.

Survivor -- Thanks for confirming that it isn't just me. I guess we'll have to hope that David can fix it with a future release.

Note however, I'm not running 2004, still 1909, though I have no idea how long MS will leave me alone... -- jclarkw

I think this would be a good idea. Compared to a dedicated Sandboxie forum with multiple sub-forums, I find it very difficult at times to find what I am looking for here. Hopefully, one day there will again be a dedicated forum somewhere.

Thank you for all your efforts. I would find it very difficult to have to survive without Sbie.

    Hi,
I love the fact someone has picked up this program to continue the support and updates for it. I tried to install the most recent one to use and every time I install it Eset Smart Security picks up the SbieDrv.sys as an Agent.ABZW.gen Trojan, deleting it immediately and resetting the system.

As has been stated quite a few times in this thread.

    https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/

Using a leaked certificate means you have to make a choice if you want to use it.

I wanted to thank you for providing the sandboxie version 5.40 for XP :thumb:
Just a small note about the installer:
I don't understand why during the installation SandboxieInstall32_xp.exe tries to connect to IPs that seem to belong to amazon.com

Because the original installer script from sopho sends there a ping to count instalations I guess, and i did not noticed that so I havn't removed it.
But its removed from later win 7+ releases.

    Update on the progress:

    upload_2020-9-1_16-59-30.png

The core part is already ready, only some UI/API code missing .

The File-System snapshots are incremental as shown in the preview i.e. files are only duplicated when they are changed i.e. like its done with true files on the host.
The registry snapshots are not incremental i.e. each snapshot has a full copy and only the most recent reg hive file is used.

I think the release should be ready on the weekend.

    Cheers
    David X.

Look exciting I assume works similar to VM snapshots but in the context of a SB, this has all kinds of possibilities.

Yes, although there are limitations, you can't take snapshots while there are processes running in the sandbox.

BTW, I haven't followed all of the thread. But can you give a quick status update of SBIE Plus? So basically if I install it, I get the same version of the latest SBIE release, but with a new GUI? And what other features have you added? And do I get the new GUI without having to do anything?
