Did you run out - get actual out of memory errors and severe slowdowns? Using more memory that it not being used elsewhere can be a good thing, gaining speed at the loss of some memory you weren't using at the time anyway. You could, if your kit was not terribly obsolete, buy more memory for it. Might be time for a system upgrade.

Just popping in to say I am loving Waterfox so far. It's been about three weeks now since I switched. I've not removed Firefox yet, but it is tucked out of the way now. I can't give you any nerdy IT reasons why it tops Firefox for me, it just does. uBO also works fine on my Waterfox. I was so glad to get it back so I could use element hiding again. I also had no problems tweaking it here and there to get the classic look that I prefer. (I got it without using Waterfox Classic too.)
Do old extensions still work on Waterfox? I had to ditch Firefox when Classic Theme Restorer stopped working.
They have two editions of Waterfox. Current and Classic. The Classic version is designed to work with older extensions. I can't specifically vouch for the Classic Theme extension, but probably. I tried the Classic for a few days before deciding to switch to the Current version because eventually non of these 'classic-type' browsers are going to work on modern websites. I left Pale Moon and went back to Firefox for that reason. Too many sites I needed, for example Hulu and my bank, began to complain and constantly switching user agents became a drag...if and when that would work. My desktop (above) looks very classic without any Classic theme addons (I think) because Waterfox imported most of my custom settings I'd already been able to apply through mostly CSS tweaks over the years. I'm using the Photon Compact Light theme that came with it. You could try both versions of Waterfox in portable form and import your old Firefox profile (if you've saved any) to experiment on what it would look like before taking a permanent leap.
OK thanks, I'm not planning to switch, but I was just wondering about it. And yes, if it still uses the old Gecko engine (before Quantum) then lots of site will probably not work anyway.
I was speaking in general terms of my experience with Pale Moon. Plus the fact that my bank will want verification by text or email (sends me a code) every time it thinks my logon is from a different browser or device. It just got to be too much of a hassle. That and the inability to stream sites like HULU in Pale Moon.
