Manjaro 20.0 "Kyria" Released (April 26, 2020)

After two months of development we are proud to announce Manjaro #Lysia to our community!

The Xfce edition remains our flagship offering and has received the attention it deserves. Only a few can claim to offer such a polished, integrated and leading-edge Xfce experience. With this release we ship Xfce 4.14 and have mostly focused on polishing the user experience with the desktop and window manager.

The Arch Linux-based Manjaro 20.0 Lysia is now available for download after only two months of development.

First and foremost, the new version continues to be available in three editions, namely Xfce, KDE, and Gnome, each coinge with their own series of improvements.
For example, the Xfce edition ships with version 4.14 of the desktop environment, but also introduces a new theme called Matcha, as well as a new Display-Profiles feature that makes it possible to store multiple profiles for a configured display.

The KDE version, on the other hand, relies on Plasma 5.18 and comes with Breath2 themes and the latest KDE Apps 20.04. Other improvements, such as the updates to Kate and the introduction of Plasma-Simplemenu, are also offered in this build.

And then, it’s the Gnome version that ships with the 3.36 series and introduces new features.

Manjaro 20.0 Lysia uses the Linux kernel version 5.6 and includes all the latest drivers that were available when the final build was compiled. In other words, you should get the best and fully up-to-date experience regardless of the hardware that you use to run the new Manjaro version.

Does it support UEFI secure boot yet? I remember previous versions one has to turn off secure boot in order to install Manjaro

I'm interested too. If it doesn't support Secure Boot then I'm not interested as all my other multi-boot OS do support it and I don't want to change the UEFI BIOS setting for one OS. And then have to change the setting again.

Manjaro forum is now in read only form.

Seems to be due to a financial dispute over how and what community funds were being used for.

Another expense was submitted today for a €2,000 laptop with discussion between only Phil and the person wanting the laptop.
This was rejected as the policy had not been followed, and I queried the expense. Other privately discussed expenses also came to light.
Phil was unhappy about the rejection and the additional questions about how community funds would be used. As a consequence I am no longer treasurer, leaving Phil in control of all funds once again

Shame all the complaining posts about broken systems resulting from updates have now been lost along with the old forum e.g.

May 4, 2020 - every second time after updating manjaro gnome anything doesnt work in the end or it breaks the whole system

Simply unacceptable Jan 26, 2019 - ... know how this is possible to happen but to me it is a major fk-up - to push such an update via the stable channel that will brake your system.

But good to see they too have been victims of a “botched update”.

For a system supposedly in the top popularity group I too find it totally unacceptable that their post installation infrastructure is so poorly constructed and managed. Slick marketing and a hundred custom wallpapers do not a useful system make and for me Manjaro is far from useful since half the time it or parts of it stop working.

With that said, the official release announcement claims the GNOME variant has received a bulk of the changes in Nibia.

"Kernel 5.9 is used for this release, such as the latest drivers available to date. With 5.4 LTS-Kernel minimal-ISOs we offer additional support for older hardware," explains Philip Mueller of the Manjaro team.
