Good to see that you have joined the forum.

I was one of the first to use SAS back in 2006/2007. However, I had a query concerning reactivating a lifetime license, and sent a couple of queries to your business. This was 2/3 days ago, and so far no response.

@SUPERAntiSpyware -- welcome to Wilders! Although I do not use a conventional AV, with SAS's addition of Avira, I think SAS has entered the big time. I am now including SAS as 1 of the excellent AVs that I recommend to family & associates.

From what I'm seeing on their forum is not much traffic. Looks like a Ghost Town. I deleted my Avatar on their forum to replace it with a new one about 5 days ago. Can't download a new avatar so I asked on their forum, why. Still no answer.

    @SUPERAntiSpyware

Thank you. :thumb: I have been contacted by support, and have received a download link and instructions to register my original lifetime Pro license that I acquired way back in 2007.

    My very first scan.

Just tracking cookies, since I didn't think there'd be anything else to find. :)

@Tarnak when you activated your lifetime license you trial superantispyware x edition became superantispyware.
I dont think that you have the x edition.
When you manually update its definitions , does it download normal definition and advanced definitions?

I downloaded the Trial SAS X Edition. I entered my Lifetime License number.
When I right click the SAS icon in the taskbar > Help. It shows me "SUPERAntiSpyware Professional X (Version 10.0.1206)
I'm going to see what they say on the SAS Forum about this.

Original by nighthawkext superantispyware site admin:
-Lifetime licenses are still honored in the ProX version. At this time, we cannot offer the Avira engine to lifetime customers. We are attempting to find a resolution for lifetime users.-

Yes I see and thanks! I'm not surprised they want extra bucks for the Avira engine for lifetime customers. @hayc59 @ProTruckDriver

Great. Looks like another "Lifetime License" down the drain, First AdMuncher now SUPERAntiSpyware. Makes me glad I'm running a macOS. All I need to buy is Malwarebytes for Mac and I get that cheap here at Wilders with the help of @Thankful posting. :thumb:

Software companies are foolish to allow lifetime licenses, paid or free, for apps that require constant surveillance & updates. Companies producing security apps are especially foolish -- penny-smart but dollar-stupid -- for allowing lifetime licenses. Why? Because security apps require constant research of new & changing malware, and recurrent updates to keep their app able to deal with new & ever-changing malware types & methods. Research & updates cost big money, whereas lifetime licenses are adding zero to the income stream.

Those who buy lifetime licenses to security apps are equally or more foolish than the security companies who sell them. They foolishly think "lifetime" means the buyer's lifetime. It doesn't. No, it means the lifetime of the company (MAYBE***). Why? Because lifetime licenses are usually a short & certain road to the company's bankruptcy.

***When I wrote MAYBE a few words ago, I recognize that some companies will, of course, attempt to weasel out of lifetime licenses, or curtail their value. If they succeed, then "lifetime" might last longer for the licensee, but be less valuable.

In the preceeding comments, I exclude companies that award a LIMITED number of free licenses to those who render special assistance during an app's development stage, such as being a useful beta-tester -- I mean a really USEFUL beta tester, NOT the strap hangers who sign on as beta testers and who contribute little or nothing other than comments like, "The GUI should be purple instead of puce."

The good news in this thread is that SAS has markedly improved its value as an AV &, hopefully, will get back on the road to financial viability. I hope that the good of all this is not overshadowed by the trash-talk of those who continually harp on the "cookie eater" phrase -- which is no longer fully accurate since SAS now includes Avira in its paid version, & that makes SAS a decent AV for anyone to consider.

Many developers used to attend these forums regularly. Not so much any more. Instead they are more often found in other venues where they can, evidently, obtain more positive, helpful criticisms instead of negativism, put-downs, & sophomoric name-calling.

@bellgamin malwarebytes honor lifetime licences and it is far from bankrupt.
Also i want to say that superantispyware for at least ten years sell a program that has bad detection rate that gives false sense of security to average Joe. What you expect that after they add an avira engine all they are good? That seems it is not even the full engine with link and web protection.

The developers that stopped to use this forum and another similar they failed to fulfill helpfull critism and as a result they took negative criticism.

P.S. Because i have a different opinion it does not mean that i don't respect you. You are a very old member here!
