    Installing the new one killed by free version, which won't reinstall. I'd buy a copy but with unresponsive and unknown change of developer, and it seems unsigned driver, that's not for me. It's a security app FFS :blink:

    No unsigned driver issue for me.
    I have never regretted my purchases of Shadow Defender.

    Perhaps that was the issue for you, was it your anti virus that gave the error warning?
    Good that it installed correctly later though.

    Just for the record, I have used 1.5.0.726 since August 2nd all the time and cannot find any problem whatsoever compared to 1.4.0.680

    Just wondering.
    Does anyone see Event ID 16 Kernel Boot in Event Viewer at the time of a restart to leave Shadow Mode?

    @stapp
    My point about the old version installing correctly after the previous new release failures, was to emphasize that there seems to be a significant change that isn't consistent across all platforms of usage that is causing problems for some users and that is not usual.
    I also have never regretted my registration of Shadow Defender. It is a fantastic software which will meet my needs regardless of any upgrades or developer changes as I feel that it had (for me personally) reached it's pinnacle some versions ago. So I will never be without it.
    I run my choice of older version 1.4.0.519 on x86 x64 systems alike on Window XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10 without any problems.
    I am not here to negatively criticize and I'm happy that the newer versions work for some members but I don't want to let this drift by without full analysis and coherent explanation from the developer.

    I'll email Tony about these issues and hope for a reply.

    ps I'd forgotten the weird password box that came up after entering registration number.

    I've never seen it before in Shadow Defender installation

    pps In answer to your question about if it was my anti virus that came up with the unsigned driver warning...I can't remember what it was or from where...just a box came up that I couldn't copy the text from which said that a Shadow Defender driver was unsigned.

    Yes @stapp, I forgot to mention my Aug 2 v1.5.0.726 OTT install was also on laptop with SSD, Win10 Pro v1909 tho' (also wifi, Macrium v7).

    Will you be installing Aug 6 version (if so, clean or OTT), or just leaving Aug 2 version as is?

    The reply that 'Tony' gave to bjm's email .....
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...r-support-thread.293075/page-241#post-2937619

    seems to indicate that there should be no problem using either one. As everything is working just fine with August 2nd build, I shall probably just leave things as they are.

    Is the Shadow Defender homepage provided by a Chinese hoster?

    @bjm_,

    thank you very much.

    Isn't it unusual that a programmer provides his website through an American hoster, but has his software signed by a Chinese company (I'm just wondering what the reason might be, it is a new mystery for me surrounding this 'Tony')?

    It fits very well that the reply email to you from 'Tony' was written in perfect English:

    So there are at least no difficulties with the English language that prevent Tony from providing at least a minimum of information on his website.

    In this context it remains strange for me that SD is signed by a Chinese company, but maybe I am just too sceptical.

    Still no problems after 24 hours (using exclusions and restarting several times) - SD is working as expected. :thumb:

    I was a bit surprised when I saw "all Windows" version in latest build...there were separate version for XP and for the rest newer systems. In my machine with Win7 there is still the "2 August" version and I didn't notice issues. It's OK but maybe I'll install the next.

    If you really meant the website host, it is GoDaddy with ordering processing being handled by Avangate (both USA companies). However, if you are actually wondering about the domain's owner/publisher, then the answer is 'yes' and always has been of Chinese origin, albeit perhaps by a different Chinese owner/publisher now!

    The original software developer and publisher was Yang Ping (aka 'Tony'). Now it's anyone's guess if the 'Tony' who recently replied to @bjm_ is still the same old 'Tony' (Yang Ping). :doubt:
