My mistake  Using MS Edge, I globally block javascript from most domains in the browser's Settings->site permissions->javascript , so I just needed to add [*.]uk to my allowed list. Working now.

Thanks for checking, and seems like the problem has gone for now. I'm guessing YouTube messed things up again. But it was caused by uBlock for sure, because if I disabled it, the videos played just fine, but with the annoying ads of course. Perhaps Google is trying to implement an anti-adblock system. And BTW, I'm still not that handy with the logging system.

Hi, I've been lurking for some time and have gotten some great information out of this thread.
I'm hoping to contribute with this post, as it's mostly informational.

When using AdGuard Base filter (without any easylist enabled), ads do get blocked, but it leaves 'gaps'/empty areas. This is easy to reproduce, in UBO filter lists - Ads, select AdGuard Base and make sure Easylist is not selected. Now check this forum page and notice the gaps on the right and main topic when scrolling down on the page.

A better solution is to make sure Easylist is/stays enabled. I use "AdGuard Base filer + Easylist" from Filterlists.com.
After doing this all the "gaps" are removed, resulting in a much cleaner browsing experience.

Am I right in thinking this list is more optimized compared to selecting AdGuard Base and Easylist seperately in UBO Filter lists?

    Interesting benchmark:

    https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1289255976198123520

Note that cosmetic filters, which most affect performance, are relatively low in number:

    48.761

A test similar to the increase in cosmetic filters would be interesting.

In my experience, I have always had bad results with adguard lists in uBO. Easy & Fanboy lists are more efficient to my taste

The posted benchmark is for static network filtering, cosmetic filters have no bearing on network-related benchmarks.

Same here. I think the large number of regexes in the Adguard lists hamper the performance of uBO.

My Adblock tester score is 10 points better with Adguard Base instead of Easylist.

Lately I've seen better adblocking results with the combined list "AdGuard Base filer + Easylist" from filterlists.com compared to using Easylist alone. Using Adguard Base without Easylist doesn't clean up the white spaces (where ads used to be) (as I mentioned before), so I guess for now using the combined list works best for me.

I need some help in what content blocking filters i should use of the 4 filters for Adblocking in Adguard for Android. Should i use Easylist and Peter Lowe's Blocklist, or just use the first two Adguard filters.

Same here too but I wasn't sure why. Now this makes sense I think.

As mentioned by some users above, EasyList related folders works better with adblockers that mainly supports Adblock plus filter rules. Peter Lowe's list is host based which is ok to use anywhere.

I meant to say AdGuard for Android, not Adblock for Android.

:) Ahh ok. Thanks @Dragon1952 for that clarification.

Timely post too. Was able to draw in some loose strings tighter courtesy the reply.

For Adguard just stick to Adguard related filters.

I don't see any version 75 in Microsoft Edge release history, so I don't know what is that version 75. uBO works with whatever Chromium-based browser starting at version 51. Chromium-based Microsoft Edge started at version 79.

My apologies, first of all I should have checked the link. Apparently FileHorse isn't trustworthy because the download link leads to adware. But anyway, it was one of the first Edge-Chromium test versions released back in March 2019. It was the only one that I managed to install via Sandboxie, so that's why I still use it.

The latest uBlock does seem to block stuff, but the GUI is inaccessible. Older versions of uBlock worked just fine, but it's no biggie. BTW, what about my question about first party tracking? I suppose this can only be blocked by the browser itself?

Is there a uBO filter(s) to hide/remove youtube annotations
automatically? I'm aware of the manual setting to
turn off annotations, but prefer to permanently turn off
annotations on all videos. The uBO filters I'm using
    don't work.
Think it has something to do with annotations_module.js$script player.

Same goes for autoplay. If I disable (media.autoplay.enabled)
in the browser Youtube videos won't play. How do I disable
autoplay permanently on videos? Again I'm aware of the setting
    to manually turn off autoplay.

I have no Google account nor want one.

No, not anymore. Went to 1Hosts (Mini) a while back until something fresh and innovative makes the scene. What's the argument for or against for using (or not using) the 2 in-built lists? It doesn't impact performance either way, that's for sure. So it boils down to a question of good housekeeping on the part of the user plus list maintenance, which is already manifest in your post. :)
