Thanks, that means the old machine theory is not the real reason...

I had the same problem with Outlook 365 this morning. Got it working via information in this thread on Reddit:

Interesting. Mine would open in safe mode. In the end I loaded up Macrium and restored the image from 9:00 am this morning. There were no visible updates installed between that time and noon when it started crashing. The Windows updates were installed yesterday afternoon. I assume they are just updating and breaking Office with no notification of them doing so. Are they trying to make us dislike them? If so, it's the one job they seem to be capable of.

I suspect the Outlook issue was something broken on their backend. There were no updates for Office downloaded yesterday and it was a full day after any Windows updates. Reminds me of the time not too long ago they broke the start menu on Windows 10. I don't like them being able to break my PC because they broke theirs.

I agree. "Users may need to restart their Outlook client for the fix to take effect" - ( without updating application? ) is clear sign that their cloud created problems on local systems.

Yes it's similar with me - Outlook is one I would miss the most.
Fortunately I didn't have this problem. Maybe because I use 2019 version and I'm not signed into MS account.

Hard to say. I had one PC with the issue and one where it never happened. Same version of Outlook and Windows on both of them. The one that didn't I left Outlook open all day. The one that did I had closed it and restarted it multiple times. May or may not mean anything.
