In a nutshell what would this do for an average advanced user that an OS like Debian wouldn't? I don't need to know the technical backend just what running the learning curve would net me?

Just another ego driven vanity project from a developer with historical instability. He should talk to Nitrux about what happened to their fantastic 'deployment' method and then understand where his own project is likely to end up.

I just get fed up listening to folks talking about the future of Linux, especially developers. In terms of desktop deployment Linux has no more future now than it ever had. If it did we’d be there already. Instead we have a present totally clogged up by a mish-mash of stuff that either doesn’t work or breaks regularly. Because of this the truly reliable systems folks should be using get overlooked because they never appear towards the top of someone’s ‘best of’ media list. This is also one of the problems with Open Source. If folks needed a license to use Debian we’d probably end up with two or three viable options. Instead we have more than a hundred with many having just a different software mix, scary themes and funny wallpaper.

    (emphasis added)

Seems to me these folks are vying for the title of least-used distro in the history of Linux.

    One question. From the link:
    (emphasis in original)

Not sure what this is supposed to mean. Would that be, a Linux computer that doesn't need to share files or work in a LAN with Windows or Apple computers?

Color me easy to please, but I am very happy with how my Debian systems run. I custom tailor some of systems to address my personal needs. All in all I don't see any reason to leave Debian (many great flavors). I prefer Cinnamon simply because my family of former Windows users adapt almost instantly.
