removing that would be work more than 1-2 lines of code, is that really sooo annoying?

Yes, I have always hated it, and you will see this on lots of apps on Windows. If it's too hard or will take too much time, then it's probably not worth it though.

Did you run it as portable?

My systems are all multi-boot on the same hardware. No VMs involved. If you want me to run a debug version let me know. The error message also appears via Maintenance > Start Driver.

Edit: If I start from scratch and run sandman.exe from explorer, it works
If I start from scratch and use the command prompt, it doesn't.

extract zip type nul >Sandboxie-Plus.ini in the extracted dir and run sandman.exe
via explorer. Same procedure with command prompt.

That you always hated it does not mean that it is useless. :p I did not know that it is called "focus rectangle" but the expression describes excactly the function: to show the user where the focus is (here: on which of the sandboxes). This is useful and I do not think that it should be removed.

Yes, but why did it have to be this ugly, why ugly dotted lines? You could also simply change the colour background when something is selected and in focus, know what I mean?

Yes, I know what you mean. The different colour background is something I get anyway as soon as I click on a sandbox (either the one which is already in focus or another one):

So the role of the dotted lines seems to me a little bit different from the colour background: The dotted line shows the focus (already) before a choice of the user. The dark background shows which choice was taken by the user (and consequently it is combined then with the dotted lines, but - luckily for you - they can hardly be seen ;) ).

Just signed up for the Patreon, and I hope you one day have enough dough to sign the files. Windows Defender didn't like the files at all :)

Anyone having trouble running 5.41.1 on Win10x64 build 2004? I've have to go back to 5.33.6 on my laptop, but 5.41.1 works fine on my desktop with Win build 1990.

Can't see any benefit for me in 2004 so it's not a problem

Can anyone reproduce the 2004 issue and may be found out whats the cause?
Because on a fresh 2004 VM that issue does not appear to me, so I can't investigate it further.
I presume it must be related to some 3rd party software or a particular non default windows configuration.

    @DavidXanatos

I open my ungoogled chromium on my desktop and it took 1 sec

When I open it in SB (portable version) it took 8 - 9 sec.

Is this normal? If I use the installed version will it be faster?

Another problem is I cannot start MS Word in SB. I can see the MS Word process running in SB but MS pops up the below message saying

    Something went wrong
We couldn't start your program. Please try starting it again

Can you state what problem(s) you faced and see whether I can replicate them?

I'm using Ungoogled Chromium from the below the Win 64bit version

    https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/

I just realized when I went to browse Brave and MS Edge Chromium browsers on the desktop they are NOT there. In fact, SB doesn't show ALL the icons on the desktop.

Also, the issue of NOT being able to open MS Word in my prevous post #186

One thing I need your confirmation

If I open up my browser (or any program) in SB am I supposed to see it running in Task Manager as well? I can see it running in Task Manager with Sandbox Manager. Is this correct?

I'm also using VirtualBox. Whenever I open a program in VB Task Manager only shows VB running and not the individual progam inside VB

With sandboxie you should see all sandboxed applications in your normal unsandboxed task manager.
Sandboxie is nto a virtual machine like virtualbox.

    Thanks

FYI, I have a shortcut of Task Manager on the desktop. I tried to open in SB but it can't open. Task Manager is not even running in SB. Is this correct?

Process Explorer and Event Manager have no problem in opening them.

Depends on the task manager, haven't tried Windows's built in task manager if it does not run than it needs something it cant get when sand boxed.
I had ProcessHacker crashing when sand boxed randomly, while TaskExplorer seamed to run fine.
But generally there is no need to run a task manager inside a sand boxed, unless you have a specific use case like wanting to inspect the box internal process token.
But for that I'll add a feature to the SbieDriver and my TaskExplorer such that it can get a handle on the original primary token of a sand boxed process while being outside.
This way its more convenient anyways.

You are right that there's no necessity to run Windows Task Manager in SB but I'm just testing it.

Please look into post #189 for some issues there

Sandboxed Word 2019 works for me with the latest release.

about the icons if you install somethign inside the sandbox and make links for example on the sandboxed desktop to those things thay wont be visible while outside the sandbox.

I know this is a not very convinient behavioure espetially when wanting to use SB more as a software virtualization/packeting tool than as a security solution, so i will look into som workarounds for this,
eider mapping files into selected user locations using the driver or just replicating properly adapted links for boxed configured to be inegrated with the OS but thats all in the future for now.

    I'm using MS Office 365 Word Version : 18.2005.1191.0

Just now while ustng SB a lot of messages pop up asking me to accept WIndows apps for better compatibility so I accepted them.

Now when I right click an app on the desktop I can see 'Run Sandboxed' which previously I don't see it. However, when I click 'Run Sandboxed' a message box pops up saying

    SBIE2205 Service not implemented: PreferExternalManifest

It has a Help button, a Hide button and a Close button. What should I do?

It ask me to 'Copy Contents to Clipboard and Close Window

FYI, I tried 'Run Sandboxed' with Brave browser and MS Edge Chromium browser but both cannot open if in Default box. I need to run then outside SB. The same above message box keeps on appearing

It's very annoying each time I 'Run Sandboxed' a program

    ah PreferExternalManifest ....
thats a minor bug in the protable version

that will be fixed in the next release,

for now just run in an admin command promot:
    reg.exe ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SbieSvc /v PreferExternalManifest /t REG_DWORD /d 1

    that should fix that

    @DavidXanatos

    In post #168 you said

    2) its portable so obviously it does not integrate with windows explorer ;)
if you want that integration just install the provided non portable version, you can still use the new UI with it.

But now it seems I have 'Run Sanboxed' in ALL the icons on my desktop when I right click them. I don't see this during the early part of the installation and usage but it only happens yesterday. So what's happening?

So now I don't need to run SandMan in order to start a program. I just need to right click on the program and click on the 'Run Sandboxed' will do, provided the program can be run. But there's another issue. When the program can be 'Run Sandboxed' I went to check Task Manger but not seeing SB running. Now when I push the mouse pointer to the borders I can see the color change in the borders which is correct unlike in the previous case when using SandMan to run the program. Is this correct for your version of SB?
