Remembering Windows 2000, Microsoft’s Forgotten Masterpiece

yup only moved onto xp when i got a quad core cpu and w2k only did 2 cores.

 

Win2k was my favorite MS OS for years... I remember it well.. Never had so much fun with Windows in my entire life, playing with firewalls and all kinds of programs... Win2k and 7 were MS's best IMO.

 

I have only used it at school, it was basically a more stable version of Win 95, nothing special.

 

win2k trashed all my partitions while installing. tried twice, needed twice a partition recovery - abandoned. vista dropped, ugly ^^

 

Windows 2000 had a lot of compatibility issues on release that would not be fixed until Service Pack 2, which introduced a compatibility mode for applications. Other than that, it was a very good OS.

Windows Me, released the same year, was also a good OS and I had some very good experiences with it. 2000 was a good year for Windows: a productivity option (Win2000) and a multimedia option (WinMe).

 

- Was Windows ME "buggy & unstable" and Windows 2000 "rocksolid" ? Never had any problems with both versions ................
