The same way SeaMonkey, etc. forked Firefox. Those guys will be up against it to make that happen.

I like the general idea of Brave and its goals, however i dont like all the stuff that comes with Brave ie BAT tokens and acceptable ads (although users can turn this off in settings). This latest episode with affiliate links is more bad news even if the CEO has apologised and changed the way it works.

A fork of Brave is appealing in keeping what Brave should really be about but without all the attached ad revenue and tokens, but as the CEO rightly points out there is no explanation of how this fork will be funded in the future.

I stopped using Brave on my P.C last year as i found it buggy,on my Android devices i am looking to replace Brave so im now trialling Bromite which so far i am pleased with.

Well said, I am in the same camp as you. I ditched Brave on mobile and am now using Bromite. I wish that there was a desktop version of it. :(

Eloston ungoogled Chromium. Like Brave but without the extra stuff. Clean, minimalist browser. Installs in user\appdata if that matters to you.

    > users can turn this off

Better yet, do not turn it on. If users don't like it then they can simply not enable it.

    I just had a quick try myself and I couldn't either (Sbie 5.33.6 on Win 10 2004)
I waited a while and I got a little installing window. Then nothing. I noticed in task manager BraveUpdate.exe was running so I waited a few more minutes.
Then I got another little window which said Connecting to the Internet. Then nothing. Then another window which said 'Unable to connect to the internet, Please whitelist BraveUpdate.exe in your firewall''
    I then gave up.

OK. I downloaded BraveBrowserSetup.exe from the list here
    https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v0.62.51
Ran installer Sbie'd. Took quite a while with times where nothing seemed to be going on. (keep an eye on systray) Then it said it was installing, then it said it had finished but it was nowhere to be seen.
Selected Explorer contents on my sbie testbox and navigated to prog files and opened it sandboxed from there.
Need to lie down now !!

Yes but didn't Firefox give permission for this, and isn't Firefox open source? I guess I don't understand exactly what a fork is. So can I also make a fork of Vivaldi or Opera then? Never heard of this before.
