I'm currently using KIS 2020 (tweaked for maximum protection). I'm toying with the idea of adding Hard_Configurator by Andy Ful to my security setup, but I'm not sure whether this setup would be "overkill".

I am using KIS 2020 with Hard configurator in one of my sytems, no problems so far. I have also enabled KIS trusted application mode.

Thanks for your reply, @arsenaloyal :thumb: I will give H_C a try.

Later edit: I uninstalled H_C. I find the UI too confusing for an intermediate/semi-advanced user.

I hear ya my friend, same as my setup except I use Aomei. To me its a no-brainer, free, A++ protection, no system impact and using OS settings. Add UBO or MBG to your browser, you have browser protection, sytem protection and back-up protection, not sure why everyone is not using this.

    Yes, it's all you need.

I have had ongoing intermittent scheduled AOMEI Buckupper Pro crashes, so stick with MR (paid also)
@Buddel Keep an eye open for Andy Ful's upcoming simplified H_C UIs - the envisaged CUP (Casual User Protection), and tentatively named SSS (Simple Stupid Security!).
Andy is also very responsive to questions - on the other forum.

But personally I wouldn't use it alongside a suite like KIS 2020.

I removed Hard Configurator - it started to block app launches via shortcuts. And is somewhat excessive to CF.
Then I changed Avast free to Kaspersky free, as Avast's shields are a bit excessive to CF. As for Kasperksy, I tried their Midori Kuma, but I'm not happy to see a military bear in the tray icon, standard icon goes better with dark mode. So the final rig is now that:

    Win-10, Macrium, SUA

    Comodo Firewall
    - FW: Custom
    - Auto Containment: block all Unrecognized
    - HIPS: Safe, all boxes in Monitoring Settings are checked
    - VirusCope: off
    - Website Filtering: off

Kaspersky Cloud Free - almost in default settings, my PC is a bit lagging now - just found out it's making a rootkit scan, not bad for my prone to freezes 4GB RAM laptop.

This setup doesn't have overlapping functionality among apps, but anyway I can't use CF in full. My PC lags when I use Comodo's virtualisation. Maybe I'll find some simplistic FW with notifications about outgoing connections attempts, then I'll change CF and Kaspersky for Avast or Panda or some other apps with shields. I wish to have a rig without overlapping and using all features of its components.

I also read about CUP/SSS or whatever it will eventually be called. Andy Ful posted a couple of screenshots which look very promising. The UI is more logically structured and should therefore be suitable even for less advanced users.

KIS 2020 is very strong indeed, but some kind of Windows hardening doesn't hurt, I think. Anyway, I'm now eagerly waiting for the first Beta release of Andy's simplified H_C app.:geek:

@bellgamin may have meant NVT's OSArmor, but he will probably soon clarify that (it's still early in paradise).

But I have a similar question regarding PC Tools Firewall ... PC Tools was acquired by Symantec, and the firewall formed part of the Internet Security product, retired in May 2013?

Wouldn't there be another choice today, even for Win7?
