If you saved the former OOSU10.ini it's still in the same portable folder and not in AppData\Local\... , at least for me.

That's not the case for me. The .ini file remains, but there is a new .cfg file in AppData\Local\OO

Mine is in the same place too, but it doesn't get updated either, old modified time still remains after closing the programs, normally it would get updated.

Same here. The one in Appdata gets updated. They replaced INI with XML file to store settings. If you rename or delete ini file settings are read from xml file on new location. So ini file can be safely removed after update.

I just downloaded OOSU10 newest version and decided to do a little experiment. I decided to take all the registry keys it changes for my personal bat file, and see if it adds anything. For the record I used process monitor (newest version)

So, I only noted the ones I currenly have Red (at the time of first running OOSU10), because I do not wanna touch Green values, since I already have em enabled (and likely in my bat):

    - Disable camera in logon screen
    reg add "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization" /v "NoLockScreenCamera" /t "REG_DWORD" /d "1" /f

    - Disable conducting experiments with this machine by Microsoft
    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device\System" /v "AllowExperimentation" /t "REG_DWORD" /d "0" /f

    - Disable advertisements via Bluetooth
    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device\Bluetooth" /v "AllowAdvertising" /t "REG_DWORD" /d "0" /f

    - Disable recordings of user activity
    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System" /v "EnableActivityFeed" /t "REG_DWORD" /d "0" /f

Weirdly enough, when I opened OOSU10, these were my reds

    upload_2021-2-11_17-20-12.png

And yet when I go to windows settings, I get this:

    upload_2021-2-11_17-20-32.png

So according to OOSU they are not disabled, but according to windows they are, who is right or wrong?

What is even weirder, I have not applied any of Tairiku Okami's tweaks https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ClqPEK5JuAYwhvpWW9cM9uJQPvpy-TOk/view for activity history

    upload_2021-2-11_17-23-21.png

I verified this by checking the registry keys. I see one settings EnableActivityFeed is overlapping between both, and then I imagine the 3rd one from the 1st pic is UploadUserActivities, but I have now reached my time limit for this thing and I am gonna do other stuff now, maybe some other day I come back to this, but I do not look forward to scouring the web why I cannot change my activity history setings... (not that I would). So if anyone knows why feel free to share :)

I'm also not too sure about O&O ShutUp10, but I do think it works correctly most of the time and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. I also wonder what they mean with "limited".

Didn't you notice that O&O ShutUp10 gives recommendations in the GUI on whether you should apply a certain tweak or not? With quite a lot of tweaks their recommendation is "limited" instead of simply yes or no.

Well it means you're not supposed to blindly apply it without understanding what it means, because it might be required for you

    Most unfortunate...

Upon reboot, still at green, the setting resets to red within minutes as the service has reverted itself to default.

I can also report that the two settings, "Disable automatic Windows Updates" and "Disable Windows Updates for other products..." also reset themselves to red at some point in time.

Sadly, after so many years, Shutup10 (and maybe every other such utility) has, without fault, lost its core benefits.

O&O should be compelled to deleting these now invalid claims ASAP. Edit: And remove the settings which "ShutUp10 cannot prevent the Windows operating system from changing."

For now, I will continue to use Shutup10 because of its broad range of otherwise useful settings and ease of use. I'll seek out and evaluate the other solutions as time goes on.

I can't express my appreciation for O&O's offering as free, however, had I been paying for it, I'd be requesting a refund at this point.

    Cheers.

I wouldn't go so far as to request a refund if I had paid for O&O ShutUp10 because they cannot change the way MS behaves, but I do agree they should no longer tell users that they have full control over Win10, which is simply impossible.

Well, theoretically I would not have bought it had they advertised it as not having full control.

Had there been a paid version, I'd use the free version after a refund as it still has tons of useful settings.

Actually, I've been using/testing ShutUp10 on day one of its release on a system running Win10 Pro Insider Tech Preview since 2014, currently on 20H2 and it initially and for some time did a bang-up job meeting its advertised claims.

I replaced an almost decade old Win7 i7-3770K/Z77 system with a i9-9900K/Z390 build in Feb. 2020 and had no choice but to run Win10 Pro.

My comment about a refund request just expressed my frustration in this loosing personal battle with MS, even though they were primary job-security for my 20+ years in desktop support and server admin (though Novell and Unix kick started it). During which time they didn't gather any telemetry on me...
