I actually bought mine as retail box distributed by the country partner of Bitdefender. Obviously, Bitdefender does not sell direct in retail in my nation.

To be told something like this is beyond all logic IMHO.

USA still the best. But barely.
    Did you try another CSR?

I did, and I was told BitDefender encourages it's distributors and regional partners to support their products by themselves. However, they said they will get back to me about this policy post consulting a senior team after considering my case where I was unable to avail tech support at non working hours.

    Let's see what happens.

I encourage you not to give up. I think years ago I had to repeat a few times that I bought from an Authorized Reseller.

I just installed Bitdefender 2020 Total Security on one of my home pcs. I am quite impressed with the features and the security coverage. I think it's the best version of Bitdefender ever. It has a beautiful and functional GUI. Also, since installing my boot up and shut down times are better. Granted, it took a long time to install, but once up and running it feels very light. I will see how it does over the next few months, but so far very promising.

I started working from home in March due to the pandemic. Considering I was logging in to the organization's network continually, I figured I might want to use something more than Win 10 Defender, even though I've been quite happy with it and it might be just fine. My main concern was just keeping my machine as secure as I could. I decided on BTS 2020, 5 devices, 2-year subscription after searching for deals. I already knew it was highly rated. I then learned my organization uses Bitdefender Endpoint so that was a happy surprise. Another family member is strictly working from home now, too, and logs into her company's network daily. I put it on all our machines (four of them) and have one left over.

So far it's been quite easy to work with. It installed effortlessly. I don't notice any kind of slowdowns and no one in the family is reporting any problems, either. It looks pretty nice and it's pretty intuitive. I can manage all our machines from Bitdefender Central. It works quietly in the background doing what it does. Unless something catastrophic happens, which I don't anticipate, it looks like a keeper.

I had to uninstall because their would be times it would not update for days...even doing a manual update would not work. The only fix was to uninstall then reinstall the program.

I am surprised because I have faced the same issue in eScan. It appears to be endemic to BD engine products that the update system would bug out randomly. But a reinstall always fixes it.
