Intel has released a new version of its Intel Graphics DCH drivers, bringing the version number up to 26.20.100.8141, up from the previous 26.20.100.7985 release. As usual, the drivers bring a few improvements for certain games, but there's a bit of news that might be much more interesting - the driver is now unlocked, according to Intel.

If you've ever downloaded graphics drivers from Intel or other companies, you'll notice that they usually warn users that the drivers they provide are generic and may not support certain custom features implemented by the manufacturer of your computer.
With this release, Intel wants to make it easy to update your drivers between the OEM-provided drivers and its generic ones, without losing the custom features the OEM driver provides.

Intel® Graphics - Windows® 10 DCH Drivers

Unlocked drivers: We heard how much our users want the freedom to upgrade their systems to our regularly released generic graphics drivers and enable our latest game enhancements, feature updates, and fixes. As of this release, Intel Graphics DCH drivers are now unlocked to upgrade freely between Computer Manufacturer (OEM) drivers and the Intel generic graphics drivers on Download Center.

Simply use the exe and enjoy the update on your 6th Generation Intel Processor platform or higher, and don’t worry about your OEM customizations--they remain intact with each upgrade and the OEMs can maintain customizations separately via Microsoft* Windows Update. Intel Drivers and Support Assistant drivers will also be unlocked starting April 28th, 2020. See the Release Notes section *4 for important information about this update.

About time. Most notebook manufacturers take ages to update drivers.

If they ever update them. You usually only get a 6 months or so or driver updates, from PC manufacturers.
