Doesn't ESET/Kaspersky do a very good job at catching rootkits? What's the need for UnHackme then? just curious.

Yes, I know, I have no real answer, just nostalgia for a product that saved me a long time ago.

Screw those all Antivirus antimalware spyware....

use Shadow Defender running 24/7 put restriction for untrusted/risk usage apps like browser/M$ Office to limit access to system/data zone which don't should get..
and use Firewall/HIPS for control system and apps behaviors...

    Don't be animal..
It's XXI AGE you should know prevent is more important than cure
becasue for cure ca be to late.. (ofc i dont debate... cure is also important but not as stand alone with out prevent)

    ShadowDDefender/Sandboxie + SpyShelterFirewall
are most important soft whole my system.
    ofc backuped by (paragon/macrium)

NVT EXE Rader Pro removed, done playing around with it. Comodo HIPS set to Paranoid Mode is more than enough when configured properly.

It is time to update this post:

OS: Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise fully patched and various hardening settings applied.

Router: TP-Link Archer C7 => DNS settings changed, Basic and Advanced Security enabled and ping is forbidden for LAN/WAN ports, without messing with the the flood attack filtering since it interfere with the torrent client and other various tweaks (MAC filtering enabled, UPnP disabled, set only my PC to access the router settings from the Local Management page, Remote Management disabled, of course the default password is changed and the WPA2 encryption is enabled) etc.

Antivirus: Kaspersky Security Cloud Free 20.0.14.1085(j).

Firewall: Comodo Firewall 12.2.2.7036 (proactive profile with various custom settings applied).

Browsers: Mozilla Firefox 75.0 (main) with the following add-ons - I will mention only the security/privacy-oriented ones (Don't touch my tabs! (rel=noopener), HTTPS Everywhere, NoScript, uBlock Origin, Unshort.link) and Microsoft Edge 81.0.416.64 (as a secondary).

Backup Software: Macrium Reflect 7.2.4859.0 Free (added to the boot menu as well).

Second opinion scanners: MBAM, HitmanPro, RogueKiller, EmsisoftEmergencyKit, Eset Online Scanner, Windows Defender.

    Loading points/Startup locations/Malware activity scanners:
FRST, OTL, Autoruns, Process Monitor, Process Hacker, PCHunter.

Malwarebytes Premium on OS X. Malwarebytes Browser Guard & AdGuard on Firefox & Chrome.

I took Malwarebytes Premium off the Mac in December since upgrading to macOS Catalina trusting Apple for protection. With Apple and their screwed up updates on Catalina, especially Version 10.15.4 it didn't take me long to put Malwarebytes Premium back on the Mac.

    Win-10
    Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control
    Windows Defender

Using this setup for several months, it's time to change it again. The problem is that my old laptopie cannot be rigged with everything I wish. It starts to considerably lag.

I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Windows User Account Control: Highest settings
Anti-malware: Kaspersky Internet Security (for Windows and Android, tweaked for maximum security)
Anti-ads: AdGuard Premium (for Windows and Android)
    Windows privacy: O&O Shutup10
On-demand scanners: Emsisoft Emergency Kit and AdwCleaner
Process Explorer and Autruns to find out what's running on my computer
    Backup: Macrium Reflect
    Encryption/VPN/DNS/password manager: not needed/wanted

That's probably all I need for maximum security.

So far so good, I have Windows updates turned off and only update when I'm sure it's not a bad one.

I have AppGuard SOLO v6 on my home PC, at a negotiated reduction in price, because it was normally $90.

But I see now it's reduced to $40 during Covid-19! ... dunno if that price persists into the future?

    Yes ultimately that is it!

I'm thinking ultimately I'll go with just Macrium Reflect, and Andy Ful's ConfigureDefender, and an adblocker like uBlock Origin.

(I do have a TB license also, and BootIt UEFI, which I really like - but I think I need @Brian K for :shifty: - on my prod machine, with essentially the above in one boot instance).

@paulderdash and @LoneWolf: thank you. It's not a life time license ? What if I buy it and then the next year I will not renew the license ? It's the renewal only for the update ? Will it work without renew ?
