I opened "about:config" and checked "privacy.resistFingerprinting" line. Attached screen picture here. Why the value is "false" and not "true" as in the above thread?
@samy have you tried any of the possible solutions offered in the following mozilla support link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1228691
We need the content (text, NOT raw) from about:config (firefox settings) to have valuable working base. but current profile has issues, a new profile obviously not. --> about:config pls
Hi Brummelchen "The content from about:config" - Do you mean the table I am getting as Advance preference when opening about:config? how to post it? the saved file is in "Firefox HTML Document (.htm)" format. The file is too large.
After clicking on "Copy test to clipboard, I got the "Application basics Report", but this report is in words (.doc) format and I cannot upload it here. have you any idea how to transmit it?
this wont happen automatically, its pure text, no doc. insert it right here - use the CODE Format Code: CODE Format pdf - from what i can see i would say - insufficient hardware or outdated driver (2014). you cannot play the codec youtube is offering - maybe only in sandboxie i assume. latest driver may help out https://downloadcenter.intel.com/de/download/28799/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-33- yours is only "15.33.22.64.3621" (10.18.10.3621)
you are still on "10.18.10.3621". create a backup (acronis, aomei, macrium reflect, else), install (try) the driver i linked. no guarantee if that may work for you at all or solve your problem within sandboxie.
Hi, 1. updated the driver. First time using the Device Manager and got 10.18.10.4276. Second time downloading the one in the link above and got 10.18.10.5069 Tested youtube - not connecting. the new Troubleshooting Information is attached here 2. Following the message (On the youtube) "An error occurred. Please try again later". there is an other one 'Learn More". I clicked on it and got a "Troubleshooting video streaming issues". Copied it and attached here in pdf format 3. I remembered that I was using some years ago, the old FirstDefence program. I retrieved (boot using this program) to an old XP snapshot. I opened there firefox. Firefox downloaded an update. I opened a youtube video (in the XP) - It worked. I created a Troubleshooting Information(the format is different) and attached it here: Application Basics-XP in pdf format (not able to have it in text format)
HI 1. I have not "sandboxie" ? 2. previously, upon recommendation, I uninstall firefox and re-installed it. 3. when I created new profiles, I restarted firefox in Safe-Mode, meaning all add-ons and extensions are deactivated. The problems remains, except the for the first time when I created a new profile, it worked for a while and stopped after re-booting the PC. I could not retrieve this situation again. In my previous file, I mentioned that I rebooted my PC to an old XP program I have not used for some years. After opening firefox, it asked for update and showed "something like HTML5 video" (I don't remember the exact wording). After the update, youtube video worked (on the same computer). It seems that the firefox update in the XP is at a lower level than the one in Windows 7 and IMHO,the issue is with the new firefox update. I base my assumption on the fact that, approximately two months ago I had not this problem.
This suggests that your problem is not Firefox-related. This mess seems to be caused by something else (e.g. AV, HIPS, whatever).
my bad, dont know why assuming sandboxie. answer about anti-virus and i advised you to uninstall, there was NO word from me about disabling i can tell you that disabling never solved any issue with antivirus. this is typical for antivirus interceptions. chrome is more than compatible to its own products - and Internet Explorer - dont know both work with same settings, in special chrome uses system settings, in special internet settings. firefox has it all on its own. again - please uninstall eset and malwarebytes, windows do not affect firefox, no way. anyhow, you are still on windows 7 which is getting insecure more and more. you should consider an upgrade to win8 or win10, your hardware is capable to use it.
Agreed! @samy, you probably have to get your installation down to bare bones - especially with the removal of security programs - as much as possible as a last ditch effort to resolve this. Disabling may indeed not be enough.
important for vendors of such programs - they will never know about issues. if issues rely on 3rd-party antivirus-programs most of them offer a tool to collect some system information where they can analyze the cause. upcoming with firefox 75 (introduced with firefox 74) vendors need explicit a link to an extension if the want you to use an extension. this silent installation is gone (the about:support here shows it up - no eset extension). what might be able now - they changed code to catch actions in their web security module - those changes could not same for different windows versions. what i already wrote that eset already includes an anti-exploit module. mbae is not needed!
I would like to thank all of you for your time and kind assistance. you were right. I performed a backup of the C drive and begun testing the two software . The problem was' as you mentioned it, with eset (ESS) only. In the mean time I learnt a lot on various subjects. Thanks to you which antivirus do you recommend? is an anti virus necessary? @Brummelchen " mbae is not needed!" can you please elaborate. Thanks
Congrats on getting this resolved! The credit actually goes to @Brummelchen, who mentioned in post #13 to un-install, and he even cited ESET as the likely culprit At any rate, glad to see you got it figured out. I guess now it's just a matter of what to do with ESET.
thank you but this is a result of many peoples experiences when problems occur on windows in special windows 10. you can observe that similar problems occurs more and more on older windows builds - windows 8, 7. but i would say its a matter of settings. i abandonned other antivirus 10 year or sooner ago because it has no advantages for me and programs i used to use with fales prositievs (FP). upcoming winows 10 the defender was not that good but microsoft invented it a lot and in 2019 the windows defender bercame really powerfull - ok, sorry, this is windows 7. for win7 the currently recommended solution is the windows defender an MSE (microsoft security essentials) https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=5201 but - i would say that a decent setting would make eset not that intrusive - i already mentioned the websecurioty module (also where SSL inspection is done) it could be helpful to run thru all settings and disable/re-enable settings to get that point when firefox is showing up videos again. its not the way to blame otehr antivirus - in no way, its a vital element to reduce intermissions to certain processes (like here firefox). so you can install eset again and run through settings (in special web security) to have videos again. about anti-exploit, i already linked it in #16 http://help.eset.com/glossary/en-US/technology_exploit_blocker.html that almost any current antivirus is offering an anti-exploit and also anti-ransomeware solution so eset has anti-exploit, has anti-ransomware, has PUA/PUM detection. this is more important than web protection for any browser. which means - firefox has anti-canvas, anti-tracker, a reduced list of disconnect, safe-lists against downloads or maliscous websites - same as chrome/chromium-based. theses features can be hardened witha an adblocker like adblock (plus) or ublock (origin), ghostery (if ghostery then only ghostery, no other blocker), adguard as extension (freeware) or program (not free). you can use a lot of passives options - firefox (above) are passive) and less active protections. maybe in parts OSArmor https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...layer-of-defense.398859/page-114#post-2872651 what migth helpful are combinations of not intrusive programs you can read here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/what-is-your-security-setup-these-days.111264/ people offering their solutions. ofc i am aware of current threads and invasions but no antivirus is capable to prevent intrusion - in special not when system itself is vulnerable. hint: create a full backup image of windows 7 and try the next step -> windows 10. and dont care about voices which want to tell you the win10 is evil, spying and such crap - thats not true and you can dfisable a lot without losing features or security.
