Seems this is another sandbox escape, that's why I keep saying that Sandboxie is still a great solution to protect browsers. It's likely that these exploits wouldn't be able to bypass Sandboxie. :thumb:

i noticed it some days ago (for windows) when editing firefox update.
    its default-browser-agent.enabled <-- false

its only used when regular installed, not by portables or other sources (eg zip)

I updated it yesterday but did not get scheduled task added. Maybe because I've had data collection disabled in settings when I updated it?

Same here, data collection settings disabled, no scheduled task.

Was the task found in your Linux or Windows system?

Windows, JR. I'd like to know how to find the task in Linux too though.

Krusty, I asked because my Win7 doesn't show it, and then I saw your Win10 sig. :)

Regarding Linux, I'm unable to help you there. Maybe someone who is using that system should comment.

On their blog they say this:
I guess that task is not installed if they find that opt-out setting.

default-browser-agent is a windows-only thing and only when installed -and if installed use the opt-out - user.js recommended - also applicable with enterprise policy generator i was told.

I already had that opt-out, but the task was still present and running every day.

Apparently (according to the article) it will run, but not call home...

Thank you for clarification. I don't have any other explanation how this task was not installed on my system. Of course I don't miss it, just wondering...
