I've been using these for a little while now with good results. Although they do come with "classic media player" (and no, no spyware), you don't have to install it, and they aren't actual programs that do the same things as RealOne and Quicktime. They are actually codecs that let you play those files in Windows Media Player instead, so you don't have to have a bunch of different programs for different kinds of media files.

Codecs are basically the instructions the media players use to display the video/audio you are playing. Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative are codecs, they just come bundled with "classic media player" in case you don't have anything else to use (if you already have the latest Windows Media Player, just deselect the option to install "classic media player" during the install.)

Just install Real Alternative & Quicktime Alternative, at the end of the installation select the option to make Windows Media Player open those files, easy as that.
