SiriusXM and Pandora are now one. The two companies had been working on a merger since news of the acquisition plan broke in September. Now that deal has been finalized, it gives the combined entity more than 100 million subscribers in North America. According to a press release, the acquisition — which cost $3.5 billion in stock — gives SiriusXM “close to 40 million self-paying subscribers, and 75 million trialers and ad-based listeners in the U.S.”

There are thousands of tracks I've thumbed up (and down) in Pandora. I just need to find a way to trasfer this to another streaming service.
STAMP and Soundiiz don't work for me, as they can't handle thousands of tracks.

Starting this fall with the introduction of its 2020 model year vehicles, all Toyotas sold in the continental U.S. will have SiriusXM satellite radio installed, SiriusXM and Toyota announced in a press release.

SiriusXM All Access is the most expensive package, currently $21 a month. The package includes 150 plus channels and SiriusXM video, all streamed to the car radio, plus you can listen to audio content or watch videos online and on the SiriusXM mobile app.
Starting with 2020, Toyota will deliver all U.S. market cars, trucks, and SUVs of all sizes with the satellite radio service hardware pre-installed.

The prices posted are of course before the fees, taxes, and royalties. Just like cable TV. My $15 per month subscription costs $63 per quarter. I'm considering canceling this as well as everything else I have canceled this year. The talk channels have too many commercials and the music sounds like 64 kbps mp3s.

SiriusXM took another step towards taking its subscription service past the car Tuesday: The company announced a new student subscription tier that gives eligible college students access to music and talk radio stations on their mobile and connected devices for $4 per month.
The package also offers access to personalized radio stations powered by Pandora, complete with the thumbs-up-and-down mechanisms known from the music streamer to further customize the programming.

The package effectively gives students the same content available through SiriusXM’s Premier streaming plan, which is $12.99 per month.

Pandora today is launching a desktop app for Windows users following its debut of a native Mac app earlier this year. On Mac, Pandora offers a variety of features for desktop users like on-screen notifications, keyboard controls, and a way to select listening “modes” and more. It didn’t, however, include support for streaming podcasts. The new Windows app includes a similar feature set, and adds support for podcast streaming.

Like its Mac counterpart, Pandora’s Windows app can be used by both free users and paid subscribers alike.
The free users will have access to Pandora’s ad-supported stations, while Pandora Plus subscribers get ad-free stations, unlimited skips, personalized stations, and up to four offline stations.

Still, Pandora’s rollout of native desktop apps helps the SiriusXM-owned company better compete with rivals like Apple Music and Spotify, both of which have long offered desktop applications. In Apple’s case, it actually built so much into iTunes, that the company decided to finally break it up into parts with the next version of macOS. Pandora doesn’t have the same problem because it doesn’t include a user library or marketplace.

It’s been less than a year since SiriusXM completed its $3.5 billion acquisition of streaming music service Pandora, but the two companies have already leveraged their collective assets to boost each other’s services. For example, SiriusXM talk shows arrived on Pandora as podcasts, while a Pandora-powered station now streams popular songs for both sets of listeners.

Now, the company is considering tying the two services together in a different way — by packaging them as a discounted bundle.
What that bundle deal will look like isn’t yet known.

SiriusXM and Pandora haven’t yet settled on what a potential bundle deal will look like, but it aims to make a decision based on its tests this year.

“The power of the Sirius brand and power of the Pandora brand are very distinct. And people see unique value in the two,” Phillips added.

Last month, SiriusXM announced that its premium channels would be available for free for six weeks, ending May 15th.
It’s now clear that, in many places, stay-at-home orders will continue beyond May 15th, so SiriusXM is extending the offer through May 31st.

The Premier Streaming plan typically costs $13 per month and includes hundreds of talk and music channels -- available via the SiriusXM app and web player.
SiriusXM is also adding new artist channels beginning on May 1st.

Anyone who is not already a subscriber can download the free app and take advantage of the extended deal -- though it’s only available in North America.

In the latest deal in the burgeoning podcasting business, audio entertainment giant SiriusXM has acquired Simplecast, a platform that enables podcasters to publish, manage and measure their content.
Financial terms of the deal, SiriusXM's latest after the acquisitions of Pandora and a stake in SoundCloud, weren't disclosed.

Led by founder and CEO Brad Smith, Simplecast has attracted such companies and content brands as Netflix, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and Anna Faris' Unqualified.

"The Simplecast solution, paired with the award-winning monetization platform of AdsWizz, the ad tech subsidiary of SiriusXM, creates an end-to-end solution that enables creators to publish and generate revenue from their podcasts, all in one place," SiriusXM said.
The company also offers Pandora for Podcasters, allowing creators to submit their podcasts to reach Pandora’s millions of users and get access to data analytics tools and audience insights.

SiriusXM Nears Deal to Buy Stitcher Podcast Network

SiriusXM is closing in on a deal to acquire E.W. Scripps Co.’s Stitcher podcast production, distribution and advertising unit, Variety has confirmed.

SiriusXM’s deal for Stitcher would be worth about $300 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news. Scripps bought Stitcher for $4.5 million in 2016 and combined it with Midroll Media (which it bought for $50 million the year prior).
The deal is not finalized at this point, according to a person familiar with the talks. The pact is intended to vault SiriusXM into a premier position in the U.S. podcasting business, expanding the satellite radio company’s footprint across all audio-entertainment formats

“The big question, in our view, is what a potential acquirer like [SiriusXM] would do with the Stitcher app, which has idled under [E.W. Scripps] ownership,” Silver wrote. He suggested that SiriusXM could distribute existing exclusive programming on Stitcher, driving user growth “much like Spotify’s strategy with its recent exclusive deals.”
SiriusXM also could potentially bundle Stitcher’s free and/or premium services with the SiriusXM-branded satellite and streaming products, Pandora, and possibly even SoundCloud, Silver added.

Even with a streaming market that’s actually been made more robust by the pandemic, SiriusXM plans to write down the value of its Pandora streaming service by around $1 billion, down 40% from the $3.5 billion price it paid for the company at the close of the acquisition in February of 2019, as noted by Billboard.

The company cited the streamer’s “royalty cost structure” as the cause in a press release that led with good news about SiriusXM meeting or exceeding its guidance for 2020 and adding more than 900,000 self-pay subscribers.
