Still PDF-XChange Editor, or Firefox. But prefer the former.

My favorite is still Sumatra, but I'm using Edge more often to open unknown pdf's because it runs in an app container.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you were only listing portable apps. That version .336 was out ages ago. Now I get it why he didn't list it. Cheers.

Spartan, no need to apologize. PortableApps is mainly a one man operation, although they have other developers who help John T. Haller, so their software updates are slow at times. I'm sure Member mood will post it, as soon as it goes live.

I personally have a license for and use PDF-Exchange Editor Pro but what about for people or friends whom I help with computers, is there a free PDF Editor that works and with no ads? The last time I tried this I gave up and ended up just installing Adobe Acrobat Read for them because even FoxIt Reader which I used to recommend in the past started having PUPs.

PDF-XChange Editor is free to use without a license, if one doesn't mind the licensed features.
According to PDF-XChange Editor's feature list, 106 features are free, 63 features are licensed.
In Preferences\Registration, one can check Hide all licensed features from toolbars and menus, so one isn't bothered by any licensed features.
That worked great for me, when I used PDF-XChange Editor, till last January.
Now I use Okular, on Kubuntu.

Are you serious? Why did you "buy it" in the first place if you literally don't know the differences... Can you not do your own research, like not even look at their store page and see what they're trying to sell to you?
