    Under a bushel ...
I'm using FF latest with EAM, HmP.A ... can't say I'm noticing any particular slowdown with latest versions.

This is a reminder. A few weeks ago someone here (I think it was Krusty) posted a link to an article that mentioned a new preference that would become available in Firefox 74 for disabling tab detachment. Well, Firefox 74 is here. :D

I usually wait days or a week or so before doing Firefox updates but this is one update I wanted bad (to be able to get rid of that 8 years old annoyance). So is done already, all looks well, and Firefox has become more usable (from my POV) after disabling that feature.

This is the preference, it has to be toggled to false in about:config.

Remind me what default - true does?
    What's tab detachment?

Thanks for the reminder, Bo. It wasn't me who posted the link but I agreed it was a long overdue setting.

Hi bjm. The default works like this: Let say you have a few tabs open in the tab bar. If you drag one out of the tab bar and drop it, the tab detaches (is removed) from the tab bar and it becomes a separate window. I reckon some people like to have this feature but personally, I never found any use for it. For me, the features creates distraction and waste of time. Waste of time because many times by mistake I detached tabs, and what I ended up doing was closing the new window, and reopening the tab. And distraction, because when I detached tabs, I loss focus on what I was doing. That feature never made any sense for me. It took Mozilla 8 years to finally give us a way out of it. Better late than never, but 8 years enduring this distraction that caused usability problem is way too long. Mozilla should have given us this preference a long time ago, IMO.

    hi
but there are still sites with TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1
i found an article More than 850,000 websites still use outdated TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols
in this case I can't open these sites with firefox 74 , have I to use google chrome v80 or even chrome v80 does not support TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1 anymore
as what I know chrome 81 should not support them anymore

    thanks

All major browsers are going to drop TLS 1.0/TLS 1.1 in early 2020.
They already issued "final warnings" (Thread: "It's time to upgrade to TLS 1.3 already..." )

Webmasters and organizations need to upgrade to a newer TLS protocol sooner or later.

Heck, I feel silly. I never even knew "drag n' drop" tab = new window.
I knew Move Tab - Move to New Window ... never used.
    Thanks

they have been warned that this would happen in 2020, so what? concerning chromium, i dont think that it have a switch.
however tls 1.0/1.1 is weak and vulnerable. time will show.

but some ssl3 cert mechanisms are weak too, but if i disable them i cant use dropbox, mega, mediafire - no way. and even ublock origin rely on it - it wont accept the update until firefox restart.
