BTW, I also noticed that Vivaldi now stays snappy even if you keep it in memory for days. So seems like memory management has been improved. I don't know if this was fixed in Chromium or Vivaldi itself.

Probably that's why it takes so long to clean the sandbox, because of the many cache files. I recently removed an old version of Vivaldi that started to malfunction.

 

That issue had been pronounced on my PC as well and with one update to another it would return but seems is smooth out as you notice as well much better.

Glad to see it too because this is long now my go-to browser of choice and it gets tiresome switching to others and back again.

 

I really wanted to make this this my main browser instead of chrome.

I love the fact the address bar can be made sane, no hiding of http(s)://, no autocomplete, and also the ability to toggle extension icons on and off on a whim, all very nice stuff.

The issues I have with the browser however, is for some reason its runs a lot slower than chrome even though its based on the chromium code, and in addition a lot of the chrome flag stuff isnt available for toggles in vivaldi, including some security hardening stuff which is a shame. So its like they give with one hand and take with the other.

And I forgot to mention that RAM usage is now also under control. I can easily open 50 tabs without running out of RAM just like with Opera 12 back in the days.

I actually think it's pretty fast, but perhaps it's hardware related. And which security stuff are you missing? Chromium based browsers should already be quite secure out of the box.

 

That was my biggest beef with many browsers tried before.
I always have many multiple windows open at the same time and with the way websites started cramming garbage ads in columns and headers plus everyplace else, those things are resource hogs on the order of old Nortons notorious AV in the past. A single webpage can only hold up to so much of that crap before the RAM would get burdened down and start slowing or freezing up the entire PC.
