For me to see that update, I had to click Check for updates. Immediately before doing it, the machine had checked itself (this is after rebooting after updating to 18363.657), and not found it. Perhaps you are being wiser by waiting for a day or so, as this kb might be the kind of like the autopilot update that got installed in computers it wasn't supposed to be for. FWIW, as usual, all appears to have gone well with all the updates done today.

i didn't change anything you wrote, elam. it was a reference to the 1993 cult movie "dazed and confused".

1, This is the link I was talking about, not the one you just posted a picture of. I never seen that link before, Bruce.

    2. Read here again what I said, and quit playing games.

Oh, excuse me. I never heard of that thing, but looking at it real quick, you couldn't pay me enough to get me to watch something like that.

    In regards to KB4524244:
    https://www.askwoody.com/category/microsoft-windows-patches-security/

This would imply it only applies to PC's with UEFI based BIOS. My PC does not have a UEFI BIOS.

Well, I checked for Win Updates this morning. It immediately downloaded and installed in less than 10 secs w/o a reboot required.o_O

My take on this KB is it might apply to ver. 1909; but only if you have a UEFI BIOS. BTW - it does show in Win Updates install history.

I will also add, I believe this update and possible resultant issues only applies to UEFI based BIOS's. The update ran and installed on my plain BIOS based device. But the run time was a few seconds indicating to me that the update just shuts itself down if N/A.

Makes me feel like I ran and ducked under cover in the Insiders Fast Ring. Six builds now and nary a hitch. :thumb: Dodged some bullets there, it seems.

    Something a little odd here.

On one machine Windows Spotlight stopped working. No big deal and I've got that working OK, but on machine #2 the power plan got reset some how. I have the display set to never turn off, have the power button set to shutdown plus a few other tweaks. After seeing that I checked machine #1 and it had its power plan changed from how I set it too!

Obviously I can't pin this on the above updates, both of which were installed on each machine, but it does make me wonder.

The only real change in either system was the Macrium Reflect update yesterday (when I noticed both issues).

FWIW, I uninstalled KB4524244 a couple of days ago. I am not experiencing any issues but was pondering too much about whether I should or should not uninstall it. For me personally, uninstalling this update was the right thing to do.

I ran into some Windows Explorer problems (volume control unresponsive, explorer.exe crash) after installing KB4532693 on W10 here, but after two reboots all is well. At least for me, most Windows updates seem to require two reboots, to eliminate some irritating bugs.

I uninstalled KB4524244 on my main computer. I couldn't be bother uninstalling it on anything else.

If I recall correctly, this is only the second time that I've ever uninstalled an update.
