Hi there all , After months of testing various firewalls i think that i decided to buy Look n Stop. I read a lot of reviews that its a really good firewall. Can i please have your own thoughts and opinions ? Thank you.
I've tried them all, Zonealarm Pro, Kerio, Sygate, PC-Cillin, Norton, and Mcafee. By far the best, and the most dependable is Look N Stop. Try the trial version for thirty days! You will not go back to what you are presently using.
Does Look and stop, or tiny have any issues with a local proxy like Sygate does? I use Proxomitron, and am looking for a new firewall myself. I was using ZAF, but have been having lockup issues like so many others with the latest versions. Tipton

It seems that Frederic is going to work on issues with local proxies.
BTW Tiny has no problem with Proxomitron and there is a new version of Tiny with a much faster Admin. Panel coming out sometime soon.
How difficult is Tiny to set up? You have to remember, I am coming off of zone alarm....one of the easiest firewalls to configure! Tipton
Well the current stable version of Tiny can be difficult, but the new beta version has default settings that make it very simple to use. If i were you, I would test out a couple firewalls then when the trial periods for those are up check out the Tiny forums at http://www.tinysoftware.com/forum/ and give the newest version (6.5) a try. Reason that I think you should test a few others first is because the Tiny beta has a few missing features right now. Tiny is a great firewall though, it has 'Windows Security' that acts as a sandbox simular to Process Guard. If you use Tiny right, you have no need for an antivirus. Either way its worth a look. L 'n' S is a great firewall, maybe you could check back on it in some time and see if Frederic has worked on it any.
I have been trialing different software firewalls for awhile now. I am also behind a NAT router, so I am not too concerned about waiting for something more user friendly. I really liked the Kasperskey anti-hacker firewall, but I didn't think it provided enough control. If I remember right, I could not get it set up where a software app had to ask for internet access. But it was simple and to the point otherwise. Nice simple GUI. Sometimes I think it would be easier to ditch Proxomitron, and then I could use Sygate firewall. But nothing filters websites as well as Proxo! Tipton
This doesn't mean Look 'n' Stop is not compatible with proxy applications (and the original question was about compatibility). This does only mean that you can't specify ports between an application and a proxy application, but it works anyway and you can specify ports between the proxy application and internet.
