    hmmmm.

For me both FF and Heimdal Thor DNS are blocking it.

I've had Firefox block other legitimate sites this week, some of them were not even hosting downloads. Not a good plan at a point where I can replace it with the new Edge which is how I got to those sites when Firefox wouldn't go there. I've never had any trust issues with O&O either. I've used their products on and off for over 20 years.

As far as FireFox site blocks, my suspicion is it has something with DoH use and the DNS provider selected. I am using default Clouldflare DNS servers and have had no direct connections issues. What I have noticed of late is what appears to be sporadic fallback to DoT and my ISP DNS servers. I can spot this by very brief borked web page rendering by my ISP servers. However, web page does finally show w/o any issues.

If fallback from DoH to DoT is disabled, I assume that will result in a FireFox connection issue.

I believe I can pretty much confirm it was Cloudflare's DoH.

I have DoH bootstrapped and was consistently unable to connect to UK's Road Racing News for several days. But OK in QuiteRSS's QT5 WebKit browser, Falkon and a default Firefox on my laptop all using system's configured Quad9. (I didn't think it was necessary to spend time to check if the laptop Firefox was falling back. Surely it was.)

I also had a fair share of "can't connect" where hitting "try again" were successful.

This is the first annoyance I've experienced since bootstrapping DoH to Cloudflare over a year ago.

Back on topic, I'm expecting my i9-9900K ASRock Z390 Extreme4 Win10 Pro dual 970 500GB Evo Plus system this week. O&O Shutup will be installed post haste. Just downloaded v1.7.1406 on this bootstrapped Firefox without issue from that dl5-oo-etc server.

O&O Shutup takes care of about 99% of what should be done manually to Pro in Group Policy; a real time saver and easily toggled if necessary.

I still can't believe it's free. :thumb: Those folks be saints.

Not wanting to drag this too far off topic but in my case I am not using DNS over HTTPS. We are using Quad 9 and the sites work on Edge on the same PC and network so no DNS issues here.

Just tried that site and no problem connecting w/ClouldFlare. Now I am in the U.S. and my closest CF server is in Chicago; approx. 300 miles from where I reside. Might be an issue with CF backbone relay servers depending on where one resides.

There also might be an IPv4 versus IPv6 element here. Most of my connections including Firefox use IPv6 predominately.

I haven't used this in quite a while and I was nearly going to ask if and/or how much it's improved. Moreover, not to be uncomplimentary of this useful tool, but was about to ask if it's really that useful anymore given the Microsoft stuff-it policy that keeps hard code hard coded.

Your reply just answered those concerns of mine, Thanks. 99% is close enough to full coverage for me.

Also if the "Extended" test from this web site: https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ is performed, it will show all DNS servers being used. Again, the test for me only showed Cloulflare w/all the same IP addresses located in Chicago.

Yeah, it's been OK for a week or so. I was using past tense in my post, but I should have been more specific. Sorry. No more "can't connect/try again" issues either.
    1) I'd have to say improved by continued development and updates. A goodly version out just today, an update following on considerable 1909 support in the December 3 update.
    2) I confess I don't know what that stuff-it policy is; I haven't followed this thread too closely. If trust in MS is OK by you, of course go without O&O or the like.

    Cheers.

This would be confirmation that the download issue is being caused by Heimdal Thor DNS.

If this has been discussed elsewhere, I can't find it. It bears repeating, nonetheless...

If you choose a configuration where disable app notifications is set and Win 10's controlled folder access under ransomware protection is enabled, you will not get blocked folder access notifications, particularly to %userprofile%, during application installs.

If the installer completes, the app will likely return the most obscure error messages or not run at all. Or the installer can hang, requiring an Explorer restart or a system reboot to return the desktop to normalcy. Don't ask me how I know. :(

[my 2¢]That MS doesn't override its own notifications toggle for controlled folder access alerts is inexcusable given the nature of ransomware.[/my 2¢]

Derp, I totally forgot you can do that to reveal descriptions like that, its been so long since they added worthwhile new settings and/or I had to change anything... anyways, seems like a no brainer to toggle off if you don't use Edge.

"NEW: Combination of multiple settings in a single setting"

What does that even mean? Anyone know? If you make a product that makes "changes" to ones system, then ffs, maybe don't be so vague on things like...

Just tried it, it makes no sense man, everything is 100% the same, there is nothing combined into one setting.

Unless this mean this but that is just a view per category or view all not like a multiple setting thing:

Maybe someone who has the previous version will need to compare side by side the old vs new...

Sadly I deleted my old version when downloading the new one, and they only have the latest on their site, ugh.
