So the alert pops up and tells me that Quicken was blocked from creating a global hook. That's cool. Now, how do I get rid of the damn alert box?! It's been 30 minutes and it's still there! :D

V3.0 Release, downloaded and installed this morning...... Win2KProSP4.

Hmm, Mine have close boxes (x) in the top right corner, I see that yours dont. Also on my system the popup baloons only show for about five seconds.
Does the box dissapear when you open PG and look at the alert?
Also are you running any 'windows Themes' like Windows Blinds etc ?

Okay, to answer my own post......... it finally disappeared. And it maybe was a tad hyperbole, the 30 minutes, but it "was" a good 10 minutes! :D

Edit to answer Frogfoot: No, it didn't close when bringing up PG. No themes here. It finally closed on it's own.

I let it alert again on the same program, there is still no X to close the alert box. Perhaps my video card? Running ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb and driver is 4.10.6458.

Yes, Looks like a video driver problem as Tom's drivers are later. :)

Well, I updated to the newest driver, 4.10.6483, and still no X for closing the alert window. I'll just turn off the balloon alerts until I can figure something out.

Otherwise, the changes are great, congrats!

Bones, This may sound daft but have you tried clicking on the top right hand corner of the alert as the X may just be hidden for come, excuse the pun, obscure reason? If you left click anywhere else it should take you to the Alert screen, right clicking should close it.

    Cheers. Pilli

Now that I have Ballon Alerts working,,, , using ATI drivers, latest version, and X is there. Possibly a screen resolution problem? I found in AOL that various items would not appear on 800 x 600 resolution that were there on 1024 x 768 or higher.

There is no "X" button on Windows 2000, only Windows XP and up.

On Windows 2000 clicking on the balloon should make it disappear however, at least on our systems that is the behaviour. :)

Ahhhhhh.......... well, I clicked and I clicked and I clicked................ it took approx 85 clicks before it closed! :D

Obviously a machine-specific problem here. I'll keep snooping around for a fix. Oh, btw, my res is 1280 x 1024 16-bit color.

Pilli...... yes, I dropped down to 1024 x 768 with the same results. It takes many many many clicks to get the alert popup to finally close.

    Hi,

may be "the" popup is in fact "many" popup ?
I mean if your app is repeatedly trying to do something, if you close a popup another one immediately appears ?

Good Point GK, the alert log should show the multiple alerts if this is the case and all you to see what is causing them.
