Ads in desktop apps - something I always wanted to see
I guess next one is Edge. Adds that user can't block is just what we need.

Yeah, as another example, there's a Spotify ad in the Groove Music app. Beef all you want, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. :cautious:

Parasites: an organism that lives in or on an organism of another species (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other's expense.
    - This parasite (the ads) live within, not on, with this move, i.e. as a user, you can not control it.

It appears that MS is starting with Wordpad (a low usage program) to gauge a response. Social media flame-outs may be what they will use to determine if they should expand this repulsive idea or not. I agree that the new Chromium Edge is an obvious candidate for more of the same. It too is a low usage product. I expect a high usage target will create a ton of negative 'shove off' responses. It may come down to how their coveted enterprise clients react to it, assuming that they are treated with the same disdain. However, MS in 2020 gives the impression that a business decision is a business decision - get over it!

I've probably used WordPad 6 times ever. I'm much more annoyed when they put ads in the Office 365 that I am paying for.

Has anyone actually seen any ads in the mail app? I have yet to see one there or anywhere in Windows 10.

I support some obscure music artists by buying their albums so I use Groove Music. For my purposes, it's a basic but competent app. The Spotify ad is clever, it's eye-catching but not obtrusive. Still, it's an ad.

We're truly doomed when Notepad has advertisements...

I play Microsoft Solitaire Collection from time to time. But that's it.

I occasionally use the Music application to mix my music collection and play it through my surround sound system and I have a look at the Weather application on the Start menu but I don't interact with it.
