"Mozilla is right when it states that a particular extension is not monitored by the organization. That's not really the fault of the extension developer on the other hand. Then there is the question of finding out if an extension is trustworthy. Mozilla provides no guidance or information on that, and most Firefox users can't analyze the code of extensions to verify that the extension is trustworthy". Sounds like there needs to be a vetting process.
that message only appear for not recommended and installed extensions (ofc last make sense because already installed^^) nevertheless it makes clear that mozilla dont check any code (or extensions at all) to avoid malware, so it is still possible to insert new extension with obfuscated and bad code. have a look at the amount of installations/users and read the comments for known issues. if possible and knowledge allow unpacking and a personal review - just do it. its easy to find obfuscated code or unwanted outbound connections with a sophisticated text search (eg search&replace /funduc). or open the network logger within firefox to see outbound connections, more than simple. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Network_Monitor

Is there a way to completely remove add-ons? I installed 'Zoom Page WE', and subsequently removed, however an icon for it remains in the URL bar, and it still affects behaviour on new tabs. No sign of it in add-ons page, as it is regarded as having been removed I guess, however it isn't completely. Perhaps I should install again, then try removing again? Nothing against the extension, just I don't require it any longer.
I had something similar on one machine. What I did was reinstall it then set it default before uninstalling again.
Re-installing then removing again seems to have worked. I wondered if there wasn't a tool or utility to do this, for stubborn addons, or a clean-up tool.

I already have ublock origin with default filters. It's doing a great job blocking ads, but I just want to complement it with a good webfilter for malware protection. I've used Bitdefender Trafficlight for some time and then I removed it due to privacy reasons. A few people over Malwaretips recommended Windows Defender Browser extension for its good protection and low resource usage. However, It's only available on Chrome at this moment. Microsoft Application guard is a different extension.
