    I just wonder how you guys make use of it. Do you have a lot of browser bookmarks or only a few? I've noticed that I have bookmarked over 8000 pages in the past few years, which makes it virtually impossible to manage anymore. So I don't bother trying to trim it down. A disadvantage is that you might loose track of the most interesting sites. An advantage is that it serves as a huge database, that I can access via the address-bar.

    Googly sync. It's so convenient to have the same bookmarks on the phone.
    But I wish I could get rid of google entirely - yet I use Youtube very much.

    Wow that's insane! o_O I've got ~ 250 somewhat organized in folders and sub folders in my browser's bookmarks. Even with that number of bookmarked pages, I often forget about many of them, because they are buried. The ones I use the most I keep on the bookmarks bar. Whenever I update them, I just export them to my backup locations.

    That's exactly my point. It has gotten way out of hand, so I now try to select a few websites that I truly would like to visit every week or month. The thing is, I simply bookmark every website that I find somewhat interesting. Often I don't even need Google anymore when searching for some subject, because I have already bookmarked it and the URL will popup in my address-bar.

    OK I see, I don't use any syncing, I just export and import bookmarks, but I mostly use my desktop anyway.

    If you have too many bookmarks, you are doing it wrong :)

    And if you have bookmarks you haven't accessed in the last 5 years, they are also probably not as important as you once thought.

    I'm in the range of 500 bookmarks or so, but most of them are idle. It's more of a habit than need, if you think about it.

    I have only a few bookmarks (half of those are just for safe-keeping), if I need anything, I just google it, it is like 2-3 clicks away.

    I wish I could do that, but I rely on sync only, since empty bookmarks (icons only) can not be extracted. If I lost them, I would have to restore them from memory. :cautious:

    Agree.

    Used to use Diigo (cloud, add-on in Firefox)*, and still have it but never really bookmark anything anymore. And Xmarks to sync local bookmarks across browsers, when it was still around.

    Mainly use just a handful of bookmarks on my Firefox bookmarks bar (synced).

    Really need to do a big clean-up :isay:. There was a time when losing my bookmarks would have been quite an issue, probably not anymore.

    *Edit: And Google Bookmarks ...

    I have somewhat more than 5500 bookmarks, and haven't found any cloud service that beats the approach I've evolved over the years. Linkman Pro is the core of my approach, but I actually sync bookmarks on all my machines and browsers (Chrome and Opera). I even sync IE favorites just to be able to use the Favorites menu option (I run Classic Shell on W10). Of course, bookmarks grow stale and useless if they aren't maintained. I used to run AM-Deadlink monthly to validate bookmarks (correct for URL changes and blinkouts.) That program is no longer maintained, but Linkman does a better job of validation anyway. The UI of Linkman Pro is less than intuitive for syncing with the browsers, but it's unbelievably fast and has an excellent search. If you are willing to launch from Linkman, you don't need to mess around with the native browser facilities at all. And Linkman Pro is good at handling inter-machine synchronization of its database (using Dropbox in my case.)

    The one thing I don't have is access to these bookmarks from my phone. Also, Linkman cannot currently sync with Edge, but I don't consider that to be a problem.

    Edit: Linkman Pro has extensions for Chrome, Opera and IE that work very well for adding bookmarks from the browser.

    Using Opera. No bookmarks, only speed dials either alone or grouped in different boxes available (synced) on all my devices (PC, iOS and Android).

    That's true, but I guess it's more about the need to bookmark interesting stuff. But I should have deleted a whole lot when I had the chance. There are also about 500 Instagram profiles that I bookmarked but in practice I don't visit most of them.

    I remember this app from way back, but I prefer to use my browser to manage bookmarks. That's why I've always said that the one from Firefox was a complete joke because it's not tab-based like in Vivaldi and Opera, very unhandy.

    I save them as .mht* files. Windows Search indexes them. My file manager let's me set tags, ratings and descriptions, show these as columns, sort by these, search by these, plus it can automatically choose a pre-set browser to open the bookmark, depending on the folder it is on, but I could easily change the condition to anything.

    But these bookmarks are mainly for sites that I might one day need. Live bookmarks, the ones I check often, are checked automatically by my feed reader.

    Just stumbled over this old thread ;)

    I also have lots of bookmarks organized in folders and subfolders. All of them are accessible through the bookmarks toolbar. And in order to improve the perceptibility of the folders, I added the following code to the userChrome.css in the chrome folder (which you have to create if it doesn't exist) in my profile:

    Code:
    /* Bookmarks - Folder icon red */
    @-moz-document url-prefix("chrome://browser/content/browser.xhtml") {
        .bookmark-item[container="true"] {
        fill: red !important; }
        }

    Note that from FF 69 you have to set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to "true" in order to make userChrome.css and userContent.css work again.

    What exactly does it improve? Perhaps you can post a screenshot. I personally prefer to use a tab-based bookmarks manager. In Firefox this still isn't a standard feature.

    Frustrated by the way browsers handled favorites, I started looking for alternative solutions to manage bookmarks 14 years ago. After many comparisons, I chose LinkStash and never found a better solution since, because it is browser-independent and offers portability, dead-link checks, login-password management, file encryption and many other very useful and time-saving features. You may want to check out the latest version: https://www.xrayz.co.uk/linkstash/

    I apologize, but after the first look on their website really don't want to. Never! The site look and first page content said everything.

    On laptop, I don't manage my bookmarks on my browser because they are not as important. I used to export them for backup but have lost count of how many times I've lost them. A few are probably on my Google Drive. Nowadays, I mostly browse articles on my smartphone using Feedly and any content I want to save, I save it to Pocket.

    I used to, but I also now only use a handful. Just use search otherwise.

    I have almost 5000. In the Sidebar of Firefox. Not organized much but each has a decent name that I can find with a search.

    Vivaldi. F2+1,2 or 3 letters to open. I can remember most of my bookmarks this way.
