Thanks, I've used this in the past, but it has compatibility problems now. I think I can live with middle clicking tabs off lol.
You can edit the file install.rdf inside of seatab_x_2-0.3.3-sm.xpi: Code: <em:maxVersion>2.27</em:maxVersion> Try to change 2.27 to a higher value (higher than the current version of Seamonkey) and add the (now modified) extension to Seamonkey. It is worth a try (i haven't tested it myself, maybe it works ) Edit: Editing the file is not needed. Manually installed it seems to work: #29
FYI. SeaMonkey, Portable Edition 2.49.2 (internet suite) Released for the PA Platform, courtesy of PortableApps.com.
I read into that as a walking away from SeaMonkey for good. Don't quite grasp why the difficulties are so overwhelming but you can't hold that against them. It's been a pretty reasonable and long run. Wonder what @cruelsister will weigh in with on this news since she is one of the few I know rely on it or at least in those Vids made use of in showcasing malware vs security proggys.
Sad really. I used SeaMonkey for quite a while as my main browser. May be difficult for the team to pick up the pieces and carry on.
It's not clear to me what the future holds. But panic sets in after years of use on XP, Win7, Win10. The blog mentions new engine. Does this mean SeaMonkey will not work or there'll be delay in updating till the engine is built? If it's really the end of SM: I use SM and its terrific email client. What might we use for email? Browser is a bit less of an issue since Vivaldi is fine. I'm on 2.49.4.
Agree! Not sure what we are to expect next if there is a usable next but even so, although SeaMonkey found sparse use on this end, it was a super alternative Browser turned to for different purposes in my own malware testings. Gonna hold on tight to the versions I do have and like everyone else, wait n see.
Since MozillaZine is closing down, here is the new Seamonkey home for discussions aka forum http://seamonkey.boards.net/
