If you've never been infected, then you may as well keep using Kaspersky. Kasperksy Security Cloud is free and provides excellent protection. In my opinion, Kaspersky is much better than Bitdefender.

    Hi Roger,

Previously mentioned, KIS (e) & (f) updates, have caused way too many problems, without work arounds. KIS tech support failed as I also failed with "exceptions" & "trusted apps", I've canceled 'auto renewal', removed, & gave them a scathing, customer survey review.

    post #1 above:

    1. seems pretty damn secure
    2. seems damn secure + overkill or redundant protection

I do make regular backups, & very anal about updates

I do like the bells & whistles, from friendly 'bitdefender'*

Bitdefender vs KIS very close call (AV-C etc)

World disrupted, via longtime relationship with KIS, now hello, choose another, that does not cause problems, spanning two or three patches, + crap tech support.

I run Bitdefender Total Security and MBAM Premium. I turned off the Ransomware protection in MBAM and let BTS handle that. I saw many posts here and there that recommended this so that they play nice together.

I remember, now that you've mentioned it.

I would say that either option would be decent. Windows Defender will be fine, as long as it doesn't slow down your computer and you don't need any specific functionality that Bitdefender offers. If you decide on using Bitdefender, I highly recommend you try it for a few weeks because purchasing it. Some people find it to be extremely buggy, so it's worth waiting before buying it, in case you encounter any bugs. In general it seems that people find the new 2020 version to be much less buggy that previous versions, but some people still have issues.

FYI BitDefender has a 24/7 FREE support line. They speak perfect English. Very few problems are so complex they can't trouble shoot them. And those they pass on to upper support who I've found max response time is usually 48 hours.

They even whitelisted Magisk Manager on my Android for me. Changed their definitions they did. That took a week.

I have BitDefender TS 5yr/5 user $53. About 12 cents on the dollar. And BitDefender has verified it is a valid subscription. Bought from an BD authorized dealer on e b a y. YMMV.

Don't remember the seller. If interested & you know how to discern a good seller with the e B a y INAD policy you're 100% protected.

Both offer/have ransomware protection, both have webprotection, both have exploit protection. IMO seems like allot of overlap, using resources. Seems long odds BD would miss something, & MBAM would find. What's cool in MBAM is ADW buit in, MBAM also added previously stand alone anti-exploit to MBAM.

At MBAM forum, they believe MBAM will catch stuff others miss, because of there heuristics, seems far fetched, as all AV's have heuristics, & tested by AV-c etc

    @zapjb Excellent sig

You're only downgrading from KIS with any suite.
    MBAM is obsolete and useless
    Bitdefender alias Bugdefender..

you can try ESET, but you're kinda out of options.

BitDefender for the last 5 years or so has been less buggy than K. And K has ordered not to be used in any US gov agency including outside businesses that have security clearances.

KIS 2020, now patch (g), KIS still buggy. 2 older laptops, used not frequently, WD + hard_configurator + MBAM ver 4.x resident.

2 main usage machines Bitdefender TS + MBAM 4.x

@mekelek Strong comments on KIS, MBAM, & Bitdefender, what evidence can your share, to back up your claims?
