But then why more people are seeing this problem? If it was clear it was a problem that only I encountered then I would be willing to do an extensive troubleshoot. But currently I'm pretty sure it's a problem with Chromium based browsers. Remember, I'm seeing this problem on browsers like Chrome, Vivaldi, Edge and Opera, even without any extensions. No such problem on Firefox.

Guys, I don't know what happened, but after a new troubleshoot, I discovered that the slow rendering problem is caused by ad-blocking extensions like uBlock, Ghostery and Adblock Plus. As soon as I disable them, the websites from The Verge and Adyen load quickly. Can you guys perhaps check it out, I seriously don't know how the heck this is possible?

Here's my brief test results again:

with no history on those two sites in Chrome Version 76.0.3809.71 (Official Build) beta (64-bit), and using uBlockO with default ad filters and blocking iframes, and 3rd-party scripts, with uBlock extra, Adven opens with a couple seconds delay and the verge almost instantly.

On an immediate second attempt, they both open almost instantly.

I see no appreciable problems with my browser setup.

    EDIT:

I'm also using a software firewall with some wildcard Domain name rules to block common ads across many sites.

    https://www.theverge.com
(Note: As long as the user doesn't click on "I Accept" in the box at the lower bottom, the website doesn't make use of google-related scripts and loading of the website is always fast)
After a click on "I Accept" the fun begins.

As long as the filter "uBlock filters – Privacy" is selected, uBlock Origin doesn't get into the way and is using redirection-based filters for some google-related domains.
Unselected filter = slow rendering speed / Selected filter = fast rendering speed
After enabling of the filter, we made sure that uBlock Origin is not the cause of a slow rendering speed.

uBlock Origin might be not the only extension installed and some other extension might still block google-related domains.
The specific domain which is the cause of a slow rendering speed is "www,googletagmanager.com"
In my case after allowing it in uMatrix i can enjoy a fast rendering speed and i don't need "my workaround" anymore (see quote below)

The bottom line is, it is not a browser-related issue (@Rasheed187)

If someone is experencing a slow rendering speed on https://www.theverge.com/ & https://venturebeat.com/ it is caused by an installed extension which is blocking too much (specifically the google-domain above)

I don't see the cookie "Accept" box anywhere on the verge.com page.

For testing: visit the website in Incognito mode and make sure that uBO is the only enabled extension. If you still don't see it, uBO might have blocked the box.
(At least i can see the box each time after i have launched Incognito Mode and visit the website)

Before a click on "I Accept" there are only a few domains in the matrix. After a click more than 10 (including google-domains)
If you only see a few domains you are not even affected by a slow rendering speed.

I fixed the stutters by going to 19H1.Nothing in the fix list to indicate what was fixed though. There was some type of conflict with Toshiba 64 bit ACPI Compliant Value Added Logical and General Purpose Device.

Like I said Mood, you're a genius. Because this indeed solved my problem. After enabling the uBlock privacy filters all pages load normally. However, I didn't understand your explanation. I mean, I don't have this problem on Firefox. Also, I get the same problem with Ghostery and Adblock Plus. So how isn't this a problem with adblockers on Chromium based browsers? And I didn't understand why googletagmanager.com is causing the problem.

Because in my case enabling/disabling of www.googlemanager.com in the matrix of my scriptblocker does make a big difference (slow/fast rendering speed)

After launching of Incognito mode (uBlockO is the only enabled extension) enabling/disabling of [uBlock filters – Privacy] now makes a big difference.
If i visit these sites with Palemoon = fast rendering speed (no google-related domains in the uBO-matrix)

different browser / different extensions / different configuration = different outcome

But no matter what browser, etc. the main root cause of a slow rendering is still the blockage of a google-related script:
    Chrome
    a) Untick the privacy filter in uBO, press F12, refresh the website (slow rendering speed) and look into the developer console. You'll notice:
    Code:
    GET https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?[...] net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT

    b) Now enable the privacy filter, refresh the website (should be a fast rendering speed now) and the domain above doesn't appear anymore in the developer console.

The same for Firefox except the line looks similar like this:
    Code:
Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?[...]”. tech:1:1

As you have solved the issue by now i think the case can be closed now ;)

Well, I think it's weird. And BTW, I still have to test it in Ghostery and Adblock Plus. But of course, I'm happy that the problem is solved.

Very helpful, JR! I like the first tip, Mute noisy sites. The customization (Change the look of Chrome) feature isn't working well for me, but for starters, in order to see the Customize button I had to disable a New Tab about:blank extension I've been using. Even with it disabled, the geometric shapes background I tried didn't do anything. No big deal though... the Mute noisey sites feature is worth its weight in gold for me. Thanks for posting! :thumb:

Chrome has stated that they'll drop support for Win 7 in about 18 months. ..... That will stop the updates, but can i still keep using chrome for years after that. When i can't use chrome on win 7 anymore, instead of going to Win 10 i will probably get a Chromebook.

Google didn't say that. What they said was, "We will continue to fully support Chrome on Windows 7 for a minimum of 18 months from Microsoft’s End of Life date, until at least July 15, 2021".

Google Chrome will support Windows 7 until at least July 2021
