Agree. Behavior monitors (such as Real Protect, OSArmor, et alia) do not need frequent updates to their "bad behavior" lists. Betas, such as RP, usually need updates to repair programmatic bugs rather than "bad lists". OSArmor had lots of updates when it first appeared but, as of now, updates are very very rare.

I use Real Protect because -- it's feather light so, why not? -- but when it comes to behavior monitors, OSArmor is a Lamborghini and Real Protect is a souped-up Fiat. I could be wrong -- OSA lets me peek under the hood & tweak the carbuerator. RP does not.

@EASTER -- You're welcome. I like your user name -- makes me think of purple eggs & chocolate bunnies (my grandkids tell me I'm in my 2nd childhood. Tra-la-la!)

@FanJ -- you beat me to it. Live long & prosper!!! :thumb::p
CORRECTION!!! I just corrected a mistake whereby I had put a thumbs-down emoticon when I thought it was a thumbs up. My inadequate excuse: laptop screen 13" & 88 year old eyes. My apologies, FanJ.

@clocks -- OSArmor is the one of the 2 most important security apps on my computer. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being perfect), OSArmor is a 15 ---- and that's an under statement. It's light as a feather, smooth as a baby's tush, & meaner than a junk yard Rottweiler whose only source of food is ripping the guts out of anyone who enters his territory.

The OSA thread cited by FanJ is long because OSA went through much of its beta testing right here at Wilders. It is very stable now. However, you should definitely read the last 10 or 12 pages of that thread to get some usage tips. Download OSA HERE. Aloha!

Do you use both Real Protect and OSA on the same machine?

Yes, I do. Besides Stinger, there are other AVs with behavior monitor components, such as Emsisoft's superb Anti-Malware Home. OSA plays nicely with any & all of them.

It seams to me that the number of FP (to install realprotect you need to launch stingerx64 version) increases if the same programs are launched from VM, it might be the rule found in hitman pro when u launch the same app within VM and scan it with early detection on : "the application is not visibile by most of AV vendors which can indicate a rootkit"

other than that it is good additional ML monitoring, with zero impact on performance
one problem that I had is that it freezed my personal document with PPI information as if it was scanning it (I could not delete it or move it and the txt document was held hostage by real protect - confirmed by pid and process analysis, for a couple of minutes or so), hope that they didn't send it to their servers..

I uninstalled this a while ago, because if I recall the issue I would have is it would lock my files on occasion.

After, referencing by @bellgamin about this today, and my post in this thread back in 2019, it seems I was confused.

However, better late than never to try this... ;)

As per usual SAP steps in first:

    McAfee Stinger_install_01.JPG

...and then with permission by me, voila. :)

I don't think its a good idea using it : it leaves alot of files and a service that won't go away even with mcaffee uninstall tools or with sc delete, its seams to be made of thin paper, sometimes not launching properly (e.g. unresponsive GUI) or doing nothing, the default scanner without opting in for stinger is thorough and a good one
