Well those I posted are all I use now for "rolling screen capture" aka: recording motion. However some might find this interesting. Maybe not. But each and every install of Windows going back to 98 and even the pair of 10's on disk, have found SRip32 still snaps a clean photo for this user for single static images. Still using the free portable v5.3, by choice, which does everything I need. Always feel I should upgrade to latest paid version to support them though, having used FS Capture all these years.
- For a long time, I only used the build-in snipping tool (Windows 7) but it has its limitations. E.g. roll-down menus that are opened won't be captured by the tool. When the user runs the snipping tool then Windows "de-activates" the program the user wants to make a snapshot of and then all the roll-down menus in that one program disappear. This is not the way I like it because sometimes I NEED to make a snapshot/screenshot of what happens in those roll-down menus (think: hunting down bugs in a program). - After some searching I found "Lighshot". It's better than the snipping tool because this program doesn't close those roll down menus. This program isn't as powerful as e.g. SHAREX but for me it's good enough (for the time being) - The trick is that LIGHSHOT re-programs the "Print Screen" button and therefore doesn't "de-activate" an active program.
For most screen captures I alternate on Win 10 between the built in snipping tool, and the built in Snip & Sketch. Like @Willy2 mentions, the Snipping Tool doesn't cover anything which needs a cursor such as live dropdown menus. Snip & Sketch does offer this via a little dropdown menu that offers 'snip now' 'snip in 3 seconds' or 'snip in 10 seconds' This gives you time to get set up.

Thanks for posting this thread - it forced and helped me to get Windows 10 Print Screen working again. A lot of good suggestions on here, but for my purposes Print Screen suffices.
