Thanks for the comments lucd. We are always looking for some ideas for new features and providing more customization. We will be leveraging a lot of AI models too going forward as we continually train the system for more accuracy and detection. Thanks for your input.
Kaspersky wants to know if i want to allow or block privacyupdater.exe. .bat is attempting to remove a protected file (operating system/system file). Edit ... i uninstalled BF and tried to install new version but could not because i got message that a internet connection was needed for installation.
Kaspersky Security Cloud and BF v4.0.4 do not get along. With KSC enabled BF tells me it needs internet access to be able to install. When i disable KSC i can get past that to the i accept the terms and conditions.
Kaspersky wanted me to block or allow execb97.bat. KSC app control setting has a low restriction on execb97.bat and a custom setting on Blackfog Inc, but no restriction on Blackfog.
Yes it will eventually autoupdate, within 4 days. We try not to slam our servers so we stagger the updates. You can force it by selecting update from the menu. That file execb97.bat is not one of ours......
@Darren Williams: Is BF compatible with Malwarebytes Premium (real-time)? Do they play well together?
@galileo: yes we work fine with Malwarebytes. But try the demo on your machine first, as there are many variables on each machine. Haven't had any reports of issues yet as they both do different things.
I had the same: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...iscussion-thread.324841/page-626#post-2866023 Hope the devs see it there. BFP exes are excluded under Exploit Mitigations, but this is due to the Anti-Malware component.
Bitdefender had an gen:variant FP on this as well a couple of days ago, reported it and it's now gone.
Correct. This is why fingerprinting is really not effective and why AV solutions cant cope with modern malware. It takes too long, too many resources and easy to get around. And yes we need internet access to download any dependencies (the MS runtime if you don't already have it). Since BlackFog uses the network layer to do most of its work, there is not much reason to install it if you are not on a network.
Thanks, that's a relief! I'll wait a few days for HMP.A to catch up and then try again to install BFP.
I had no problems installing BF before the current version. Now it says i need internet access to install.
Still on v4.0.3 (b290). Right-click Taskbar icon>Check for Update or client Help>Update does nothing. Is it because I am using the Enterprise license (since early days)? Should I do a manual update?
@paulderdash: In the Enterprise console there is an option under Settings>Global that needs to be checked called auto-update for Windows in your case. The app checks this flag first before it will upgrade. Turn it on, click save then perform "Check for Updates" again.
@Darren Williams, that flag was on. I set it off, saved, then on again, saved (in each case 'Group policies updated: Success'). But no joy with 'Check for Updates'. Downloaded, first install failed because of Emsisoft malware detection. 2019/10/24 07:48:58 Behavior Blocker detected suspicious behavior "AutorunCreation" of C:\Users\****\My Applications\BlackFog Privacy\BlackFogPrivacySetup.exe (SHA1: 62EAA417420620141C85792D8FD5F0EAB39850C9) Disabled Emsisoft but install failed with same message as @Dragon1952: 'BFP requires an active internet connection for installation'. (Also with 'Run as admin'). Definitely a problem here, I can't send attachments via PM on Wilders, or open a ticket on my account page - so have sent latest install log to support at blackfog.com. Hope you can spot the problem there.
I have that setting enabled in the Console and haven't yet seen a machine update when checking for updates.
We have a new installer coming out today which will remove that so called "feature" from the installer system. All files are otherwise identical.
