    Sandboxie Version 4.02

This release is a redesign of the inner workings of Sandboxie which improves compatibility
with current and future versions of Windows. (includes XP)

Windows XP is supported up to Sandboxie version 5.22.
Any beta/stable versions after Sandboxie 5.22 will not work on XP.

I have similar plan with Windows 8.1. I've installed last version and so far didn't encounter any problems.

Key word is "will be". Meanwhile I will go by, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ...at least for now. LOL

The "last version", do you mean the updated free version, 5.31.4 ?

Very nice move on Sophos part but short of forks we will still need to see how quickly they can react to bugs and proposed changes from people outside. I imagine most required changes these days aren't kernel related, aside maybe from Windows 10 builds, but are instead related to the hundreds/thousands of usermode hooks they inject into protected applications. It'll be nice to be able to peek under the hood as (if) changes are rolled out. If only this had happened when I still used SBIE! /cry

When turx, or tucks (no offense, can't get the name right ) sold out, it was all-over.

Repeat after repeat, excellent software sold to the big companies, disappears or becomes garbage.

Was all to familiar with those when I worked for IBM, had to recertify every year.

In that Sophos announcement it says:
"The license agreement under which you originally obtained the paid licenses to Sandboxie will continue to apply to those paid licenses until the expiration of the applicable license term."

For the old lifetime licenses, the registration popup says "Your product key does not have an expiration date". I wonder if the older versions will continue to work as always, or will they perish when the time to re-register comes around?

Either way, Sandboxie is a remarkable software.
I wish Tzuk would take the helm again. :)
If Tzuk & Bo were managing Sandboxie, windows could be darn near invulnerable.

Installed 5.31.4 version over the top of 5.30 on Windows 7. There is now not Registration option under the Help Menu and no mention of expiration of license under About Sub menu. Chrome opens much faster now. Hope this will work for a while. I really do depend on this wonderful program.

So I saw this post and sure enough when I tried some msi installers they seem to be broken with v5.31.4, anyone else getting the same errors, and does this not happen with 5.31.2?

    FWIW ~ I overinstalled 5.31.2 to test Mumble 1.3.0 msi. I get dialog with 5.31.4 & 5.31.2.

Same message I got, it never used to be this way, as I've 100% been able to install "msi" installers for certain programs before.

So just to clarify, are you saying you get this also on beta 5.31.2 as well? I'm guessing this started with a Windows 10 build somewhere then...

I tried Mumble 1.3.0 msi with 5.31.4 and then overinstalled 5.31.2 and tried Mumble 1.3.0 msi, again.

Alright thanks for clarifying, I wonder if this works on Windows 1809 or 1903 before yesterdays "18362.356" update.

Alright thanks again, I know for a fact I've installed them before on 1809 with SB beta 5.31.2, but I did the major upgrade to 1903 on Aug 28, so a change must have happened there? I guess now all we need is someone on 1809 to confirm/deny if these msi installers shoot out this message.

Maybe, dialog is unique to "Mumble 1.3.0 msi". IDK

Latest version does not work for me on W10, installs fine, after exiting program I tried to run again, click on icon and Chrome opened but it was not sandboxed nor did the sandboxie icon did not appear on the taskbar. Several attempts resulted the same, guess its no more Sandboxie for me.
