The desktop beckons you. Here's a review of the Xfce 4.14 desktop environment, tested in Manjaro Illyria, including new features and options, look and feel, application functionality, various visual glitches, stability, performance, other observations, and more. Have fun.

I've installed it (on Xubuntu 18.04 LTS) this afternoon on my X220.
I grabbed it from the staging ppa - https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/ archive/ubuntu/staging
xfwm4 crashed, so I downgraded that package, but the rest is smooth.
Also installed the new xfce4-screensaver which finally fixes the issues with lightlocker not working well in combination with logind.
Not encountered the display glitches you mentioned.

    thanks for the review, Mrk!
    I feel sad as well...
I was eager to discover new things and improvements, but it didn’t happen!
    Oh well...

Oh BTW, 2 big new features for me as colour management and display profiles (multi monitor positioning and configuration)
