Acronis True Image 2020 (Build 20600) Released (August 20, 2019)
    Website
    Release Notes
    What's new
    • Dual Protection
Acronis makes the protection process easy and efficient by replicating local backups in the cloud automatically, so that you always have an off-site copy available for recovery. Once you’ve successfully completed the first backup, the backup and replication occur simultaneously.
    • Enhanced Backup Technology
Our new backup format delivers a better overall performance, enabling faster browsing of cloud backups, improved speed for backups and recovery, and data deduplication.
    • Tray Notification Center
You can get messages pushed to your desktop tray. This allows you to monitor the status of your backups easily, receive timely tips on how to enhance your protection, and quickly respond to any issues.
    • Enriched Anti-Ransomware
As cyberthreats continue to evolve, we constantly enhance Acronis Active Protection to stay ahead of them. Our new machine learning models make our software more effective and the latest version now stops illicit service termination attacks. You will be informed of the reason a particular process is being monitored or blocked as malicious.
    • Back up on Selected Wi-Fi
You can easily avoid metered connections and unsecure public networks that put your data at risk, by selecting the Wi-Fi networks you use to back up your data. This keeps your uploads secure.
    • Custom Power Management
Manage your backups so they don’t drain the battery. This ensures that your laptop will run when you need it. You can set a minimum power level for backups or completely block backups on battery power.

    • Power Nap Backups
How efficient would it be if you could get tasks done while you were asleep? Mac users come close now that they can choose to back up their machine’s data when it enters Power Nap mode. Not only will your Mac’s data be updated during its Power Nap, your backups will capture those changes too.
    • Mac Restores
Restore your data to a new Mac machine more easily, even if it is spread across APFS volumes on your current system. It’s a much more efficient way to migrate your APFS volumes.

Looks like this release was pushed into the market a little too early. Especially the new backup format still has some limitations. From the release notes:
Otherwise almost all new features are related to cloud backup, and the perpetual version (you only pay once) has none of these new features. The other versions which include cloud backups are subscription based (you pay an annual fee). This is definitely not for me, I will stick with my ancient TI version.

    Cheers

I've already tested it. For me it's performance is a disaster. No upgrade here. Test it before upgrading or buying.

Never use the first build of a new Acronis version. It has always been to buggy for me.They need to bring back True Image Echo. No extra features. It just worked. But they just couldn't leave it at that.

well, they had to come up with something to stack up against the competition. but it's been sub-par since v15.

If they made something reliable there would be no competition. But nobody wants to include that "feature". :isay:

ATH 2019 is pretty reliable for me, but 2020 is a performance disaster

The Trial was an unpleasant experience. Registration needed and multiple entries of an email address and password. Rescue Media Builder kept crashing, I've given up.

I had too many bad experiences with Acronis in the past, so I don't even bother trying it anymore.
There are too many good and reliable alternatives to bother with this.

I have given up on the TI Windows installation versions since TI2015. But I must say that the Rescue versions (Linux and WinPE) are a different story. All the bloated features are gone, fast and reliable for me. With EasyBCD you can integrate them into the Win7 Boot Menu for much faster startup, Just a few weeks ago I did some extensive tests with the last TI2019 version 17750 from March 2019, and these rescue versions have been rock solid for me on several computers (down to an ancient WinXP machine with only 576 MB of system RAM).

What are the Acronis rescue versions, and can you make backups from them, or just rescue?

Acronis worked fine until 2010-2011 versions. Then I found it heavy and sometimes buggy. May be with other it works fine again. I don't use it actually for my disk images, only for his " Try and decide " feature.

But not with this 2020 Trial version.

I finally got around the crashing Rescue Media Builder by creating an ISO and using Rufus to create a UFD. I couldn't create a UFD from the Rescue Media Builder.
So I booted the UFD. In the list of partitions to be backed up, the MSR does not appear. Also, the partition order is jumbled. It bears no relationship to the partition order on the GPT disk.

What is the Acronis Rescue version you talk about?
Do you mean the bootable media you make from the main interface, or something different altogether?

From installed Acronis 2020 there is an Rescue Media Builder button. I think it's under Tools but I no longer have Acronis installed. I was hoping to test backups from the bootable UFD but that can't be done.

2020 Media certainly is a straight forward GUI.

OK. I prefer to have the Rescue Media outside of the OS partition. On its own bootable HD partition. This makes for smaller OS images and it's functional if Windows won't boot to a menu.

Yes, the Linux based rescue media you can download directly from the Acronis site certainly does.
If you make a WinPE based rescue media by yourself then it depends on the PE version you pick. With PE3 (based on Win 7) it will probably not work, but with PE10 it certainly will...

Mood, is the "old" technology, i.e. tib format still available, do you know? In this new 2020 version?
